Now, here's my issue-all the upcoming big airsoft events are at least two hours away, and I'm not sure if my parents are willing to make the drive. I live in the Saginaw/Flint area and a lot of upcoming airsoft events are rather out there. I would be more than exhilarated to go to my first legit game with you guys, meet up and have a good time. I have a few mags and have worked on my M4 QUITE a bit. But going back on topic, all the games are rather far away. The Chimera Conflict is two hours and 45 minutes away, Operation Blackjack is three and a half hours away, and the closest, being Operation Jackal, is still two hours away. Would it be a good idea/okay if I was to invite people to come down to Cru Paintball and play? Like, if I rented the place out for a day, could I see if anyone on the forum would want to pay a portion of the admission fee to come along and play for the day? Or can these events only be hosted by respected users, admins, and moderators? Because if I can host my own event, I'm going to look into renting out Cru Paintball for a day and inviting whoever wants to come down to play for a fee.

You could do OP Geronimo. That's in Highland which is maybe 45 min to an hour away? They're hosting a rec game there soon also. I don't remember which day but its in the event section; look for ATS. They recently moved to a new field that Mosin is managing.

Anyone can run an event, and anyone can post it here as long as they follow the forum rules. Getting people to show up for an event is another matter. Being able to run it well enough that people come back is a third problem.

Zorak is absolutely right about getting people to show up and then come back.
As long as you meet the MIA standards then any game you want to host can be posted on here. It isn't a requirement that an event has to be hosted by guys that have been around a while or by admins or mods. There is a reason though why the majority of the games are hosted that way and the biggest reason is experience. MIA as a community knows the hosts and knows that they are looking to put on a good game and have the experience needed to do so. They also know that we know the ins and outs of the community rules to make sure that everyone is safe.
Also depending on the amount of people going, its very difficult to host a game by yourself. SK always has a handful of people monitoring each event and they are spread out throughout the field so that there is a ref nearby to monitor the action and make sure things are going well. which is another reason why events are typically hosted by teams.
The real requirements for hosting a game is to have a very good understanding of the communities guidelines and rules. Have a very good understanding of how games take place. Have a very good understanding of the field you are hosting in. Have a good relationship with the field owner. Sometimes it takes years to gain those things.
Personally it took me close to two years before I started posting the first few games that happened at no limits and even then I asked for help from more experienced guys like knief and skypilot to bring a little more legitimacy to the event.
At this point since you have not been to your first "real" airsoft game, even if you had access to the best field known to man, chances are people will not show up. My advice is to find a way to get to as many games as you can and observe and play and learn as much as you can and in time you might be able to get a group together and start hosting your own.

@x I would love to go to Geronimo, it seems like a really cool and well produced Mil-Sim event, but unfortunately, I'm only 14. :/ Kinda limits you on playing airsoft or paintball at local fields.
@m.S.-Arc Alright, I think I'll wait after playing at five or six larger events to get better known and trusted before even reconsidering hosting a game. I think I'm already pretty looked down upon by the community because of my rant, which I should just delete, honestly. Thanks for taking the time to write that whole essay on why I should wait, hahah.

Being 14 comes with its own problems. Suppose you get the field rented and bunches of people show up to play. Now you have 40 guys from 14 to 60 running around, shooting each other and getting rowdy. Are you going to be able to keep order?

Please do not delete your rant. I know your intentions are good, but it will just serve you further anger people. You can not delete everything that was posted in that thread by other people, and if you delete your original post the thread will not make any sense. Just live and learn, and move on.

tank Crap, a little too late for that. I got a warning too. I suppose that'll make some people that found the point of the thread useless happy though, so I guess it all works out.

This isn't middle school, nobody is happy because you got a warning. Learn from your mistakes and move on. This is a forum run by adults and aimed primarily at adults, conduct yourself accordingly.

I'm going to put this out there plain and simple: This. Shit. Is. Hard.
It's a lot of work to host a game, and even more work to host a good game. You NEED to be pretty experienced to host a game, so you understand what people want/need at a game.
Much like you I live far away from popular places to play. However, I think we are just stuck driving more than other people to play. If you try to get people to come to you, you'll find few people will go all that far when they have another field half that same distance.
That's all I have, but I'm sure Pagan could add some more.

There's a big difference between hosting an event and having an event at a field.
What you were describing is holding an event at a field. You secure a field to play at and people show up, maybe.
Some of the details most people don't think about that go into HOSTING and event:
Securing a Chronograph. Having bbs for players to chrono with. Holding a safety briefing, and making sure the entire group who is playing understands the safety rules. Being able to switch games up on the fly when things are unbalanced or players aren't having fun. Trying to keep 50+ players active and entertained.
I would not recommend anyone who doesn't have a decent amount of time playing under their belt, to try and host an event that is open to the whole MIA community. It took me a few games to understand what was going on and feel confident in my hosting abilities, and I had been playing for almost two years at that point.

Come on out to an ATS Rec Game, the age requirement for those are 14+ - Also, I'd speculate that sometime late September I'll be hosting another Operation (non-MilSim) that you could also attend. Once every other month ATS will be hosting a non-MilSim for ages 14+ with looser camouflage restrictions, as well as every month hosting a rec game.

Mosin Although school starts back up for me in September, sweet! I'll try to make it an effort to make it to that event. You guys are actually an hour away from me, but I'll try to make it. EDIT: Oh, this works out perfectly, actually. I go back to school on the 8th, and your event is the 7th, hahah. I should be able to convince my parents and a few friends to come along.
