i been reading all the noob sticky stuff up top and i'm shocked at how right they are about the thinking of a noob to airsoft. for example I now want to get into the sport after stumbling across some youtube video's of airsoft wars. also I've looked at airsoft guns on ebay and was liking the jg jing gong g36c and was thinking it was gonna be my first gun....not now. wow how correct it all was. now I guess I'll put the new rc car purchase off and get a AEG blowback something for 2 or 300.
I gotta go to the local sporting goods/military store and pick up a few things.
what I haven't figured out yet is how do you make your approach at one of these airsoft fields and get on a team to play. is it like at a basketball court were you call next and pick a team or do you sit around hoping a team needs a extra and picks you?

You should probably re-read some of the stickies. The mods run a pretty tight ship and expect proper grammar and punctuation. Welcome to MiA, though! Glad to have you aboard.
Edit: Don't bother with electric blowbacks. They are not as cool as you think. Just some bullshit added to the gearbox and a dinky "clack clack clack" when you pull the trigger.

You know, JG G36's aren't that bad of a starter gun, especially for the style. I know everyone here loves G&G CM's, but if a G36 is what you want, go for it.
As for the airsoft field question, you pretty much either walk on-site, or sign up on the forum. When you get there, pay, and get your stuff ready, they'll usually just pick people randomly (I.E this group on one team), separate by major groups, or camo.

You should always sign up for a game ahead of time on the boards here if there's a thread for it. Event hosts need to know how many guys to expect. Then, when you show up, you'll be put on one team or the other based on your camo (teams are usually green based camo vs. tan based camo). From there, it's up to you to link up with some friendly looking guys or run on your own if you want. You'll generally be more effective (and learn a lot more) if you stick with other players, and you get to meet more players that way and build bonds through shared experiences. The majority of us only know each other from the boards and games. Just getting out and playing with each other, a lot of us have become very good friends.

A JG G36 is a good starter, although I and many using this forum would recommend a G&G Raider or G&G sportline what have you. The JG internals are pretty decent though, but they do have their downsides. Those would be the nylon/plastic bushings, a ton of grease, "meh" shimming, and a "meh" motor. But they should suffice just fine as a starter. Keep us as a forum updated on what you think you're going to do with your money and we'll steer you in the right direction.

I had a jg g36, great gun and it ran really well for stock internals. I just grew out of it and moved to my m4.

DeathDealer bought a JG G36 as his first clone. He used it for at least a couple years without any issues. It's still running today, he just moved onto bigger and better things.

I don't have any experience with JG but I know for a fact the Ares Umarex Licensed G36 V series is a mighty fine G36. However you may not want to start with a G36 as Magazines are generally more expensive and not as common as M4/M16 style magazines (You can get a box of 10 M16 mid caps vs 5 G36 mid caps). Many here Recommend a G&G Combat Machine but like Taho said if you want a G36 then go for it. As for finding a team to run with it can be fairly easy, and if you want you can run with Task Force Raider (we're a Rec game team and mostly wear ACU) at the next No Limits game. Kneif is right though, when you work with others you can learn a lot more, I leaned this thanks to 3.14. If you have any questions about TFR, G36's or anything else feel free to shoot me a PM.

99.99% of everyone who goes to events are SUPER friendly, and I learned that first hand. Always remember, no one bites, when you're at an event, talk to people, introduce yourself, talk about the previous games, or upcoming games, making new friends isn't difficult on the field because you're all there to do something we all love to do anyway, and thats the best advice I can give ya, see you one the field!

I also like the g&g combat machine gr15 raider within my price range could go higher after I sell a old rc car I don't race anymore. Bang for your buck, the Raider series is where it's at. I've had one for the better part of two years and I love it. Just know that if you plan on upgrading your gun later, G&G has some weird tolerances (for instance it takes a punch and a hammer just to open up the gearbox due to the slide behind the blowback system, and the pin that holds the gearbox in is TIGHT). G&G guns also don't fit Pmags very well. I have two and they just don't work with any sort of reliability. Another great starter option are clone AKs. DBoys (I've heard) make some very sturdy products, for really cheap. You can get a steel version off evike for 120ish + shipping. (I'm actually looking at get one as a back up gun myself). Anyways the market for decent, cheap guns has grown huge in the last few years and there are a ton of great choices out there. Just remember to grab a few extra mags. I'd recommend a few Lonex (make sure they're Lonex though) flash mags, which I've fallen in love with recently, because that's usually where new players skimp and end up spending a lot of time refilling the one highcap that came with their gun.

Look into a KWA CQR $189 for a 2gx gearbox, can't go wrong. Few of my teammates own one and from what I can tell they enjoy it. I personally owned a combat machine and they're good. The electronic blow back is nothing special and just causes problems trying to open the gearbox.
