I had a great time this weekend! Incredible AO, good fire fights, and great players. Had fun rolling with my team! But it was also fun hanging with Pagan and Helmet for a short time on Sunday...until the humvee came Luckily, they dismounted and I took out 4-5 of them. I'd also like to give a shout out to Priest for taking out the humvee multiple times(7?) on Sunday. That RPG was a killer! It really helped us out! That 250'ft shot from the machine shop I heard about sounds incredible, can't wait to see it on video. Thanks Tank and X for making that vehicle! It was a great asset. I seriously appreciate you guys picking up Priest on Sunday and letting him roll with you guys. He was about done...you guys really made his day. It gave him some good video and kills out there! To everyone else, great job and I hope LC comes back to MI next year.

. Scariest part of the day was after running through a puddle inside one of the buildings my boots started melting. My soles became squishy and soft and then eventually fell off. Thankfully I had some para cord and duct tape and was able to patch them up in the field. So much for that pair of Bates.... I didn't get a chance to attend (Not 18 yet) but it was funny because me and my friend Collin were talking about Northern Light IV and how about last year Gimp was telling me about he almost fell down from a ledge or something, to which I mentioned to Collin "It would suck if that was a vat of Acid" to which he replied " I don't think a factory is going to leave Acid laying around after it closes down for the general public to get a hold of" Looks like you stepped in some, good thing it wasn't too strong to eat all the way through and cause some serious problems.

After attending last year's NL, it was great to get back on this AO. But with the lessons learned from last year's event, and the dedication and outstanding job that everyone did this weekend, there was no denying that we were not going to win this year.
My only complaints were the following: 1. Weather - As much as I love playing at this AO and this event, I wish LC would host this game a little earlier in June. The heat really puts a beating on you as we all experienced. Even with keeping hydrated, you really have to stay in the shade as much as possible to avoid over heating. In addition not being heavily weighed down and furthermore being in physically fit shape really helps. What many people that haven't attended this op also may not realize is that you walk almost 1 mile to your spawn point which we had the privilege of having twice that weekend.
2. Communications - No doubt comms were WAY better than last year, but they still weren't great. Even though this has to do with the AO itself and getting just a bunch of untrained people on public channels will always cause issues. Also there seemed to be programming issues with both sides as well. However it was a good thing that we had selected a non standard fall back channel to use. Even though I wasn't able to get my model iCOM programmed with everyone else, I'd be willing to invest in the cable and software for my model specifically and I think our take away from this year is just to use our dedicated non standard channel from the very beginning and not even attempt at using the standard assigned FRS/GMRS channels.
Oh and Knief, after this year with not being able to hear everyone with my COMTACS on around me and with the extra pressure it put on my head I think I'm going to go with your comms set up. You're using a receiving ear piece and a external mic right? When you have a chance do you mind sending me a PM with links to the equipment you have?

I feel so validated. If they come back, every single MiA player needs to invest in an Icom (preferably 4011) that you or we can program ahead of time. We can create a real command net where every squad gets its own frequency and SLs can contact PLs uninterrupted and from every point on the field. The Hellfish were running 4011s on one of the fallback channels all weekend and our communication was great. We stayed together better on this 2 mile AO than we do at No Limits, and we were able to communicate everything we needed to without somebody broadcasting engine noise or call button chirps. If every squad had that same capability, and if our command frequencies weren't constantly getting spammed by hot mics and static from weak radios, we would have been that much more capable. Gunny, I, and a few other Hellfish, use these: www.buytwowayradios.com/products/xlt/speaker-mic-sm300-s6.aspxwww.buytwowayradios.com/products/xlt/se100-35.aspxThey're dirt cheap and clarity is great going both ways. Comtacs and Sordins look cool and all, but if all you can afford is the repros, you're seriously sacrificing functionality. I'm guessing the guys with the real ones were doing fine, of course.

Had a fantastic time this weekend. Aside from the rain, I had no issues. Comms on a squad level was perfect. MIA should be proud of the way we conducted ourselves and the complete command of the battlefield. Gunny - if you go with Knief's setup and get that earpiece, I suggest you pick up this: www.surefire.com/ep2-commear-boost.htmlPlugs right into that earpiece linked above. The advantage is that you do not lose any of your ambient hearing in that ear. You can get a pair for like $14 off ebay.

Wow I can't believe that another year is gone. But what an awesome time !!! A-team and the Entire MIA Team really kicked ass this time. Glad as always to be a part of it. I don't get out much but when I do, I'm glad MIA is there !

Thanks Knief and Kurt. For sure that's the set up I'm going with from now on. Those Comtacs under a helmet and mesh face mask started feeling tight on my head, and got really hot over the weekend which didn't help with the heat. I also couldn't hear absolutely anything outside of radio communication which made it super difficult to communicate over the weekend.

It was absolutely hilarious listening to you scream at people that were two feet away, though.

Well..it was hot!! I'll say that much. The first day kicked my ass and put allot of blisters on my feet. Day 2 was much better. It was much cooler for sure. I decided to ditch my vest, M4, and my other launcher which wasn't working and lug around my RPG and pistol. I had a much better experience and enjoyed the day. I acheived my goal of getting a couple vehicle kills on the Humvee and was tired and ready to call it a day. Then I got an invite from the A-team guys to hop on and help hunt down some technicals. Let me tell you what, I really appreciated that. They made my day and even tossed me a bottle of cold water at the end. A couple of their guys even ran around and picked up rockets. So a huge thank you to them as well. I'd say we took down the 2 technicals about 7-8 times. I checked the LC forum and found this posted in the AAR. The Federation XO Batman posted this... We didn't get another mission the rest of the morning, until 1130 Hrs. On day 1, I had been given a staff phone, on which the missions would come in. On day 2, I was never given it. As a result, we were never given orders to complete until Greg called Max and I in to get a bomb that he advised needed to be placed by a pool of Hyd rocloride acid. He pointed out the location on my map and I called all Fed elements to descend on and defend that location while we went and placed the bomb. Once we did, we were stopped by staff, who told us it was in the wrong place. We then stood by for 7 min, while they tried to confirm the correct placement. While this happened, I watched Ren forces begin to mass up in and south of building 12 (5). At 1145, with 15 min left, we were told the bomb needed to be right where the enemy was now massed... FML. We tried to push up on them but the "A-Team truck" they were running had awesome range on their AT and took us out. We dismounted and shot as many of them as we could before the A-Team truck shot me out from behind on a flank. NICE JOB! That was the shot I took from around 250 ft out with my RPG by the machine shop at the end of day 2. They were on their way to mow down everyone in the machine shop and plant the bomb that X was searching for. And Batman was the guy hiding on the side that I shot in the legs with my pistol while he tried to hide from us while we circled the Humvee. So we prevented the bomb from being placed.

Forgot to talk about another highlight. There was only about 15 minutes left for the game on the final day (Sunday). A huge group of us were hanging out in the machine shop and we saw the opposing teams technical on approach. Knowing that the MIAteam technical was just out of the opposing technicals view we started waving at them to get their attention and daring them to attack us and they proceeded to head our way until they spotted the MIAteam truck which stopped them in their tracks. 2 seconds later they get a rocket straight into their windshield. At that point we charged the opposing technical on foot screaming the whole way and guns blazing. Good times.

I read Batmans AAR. I dont remember tan controlling 50 % of anything Saturday morning play. All three of thier advances were stopped. Thier 3rd platoon were the guys we stopped at thier Mobile spawn right before lunch. The A Team truck chased the humvee away every encounter I saw.
I guess it was a matter of perspective.

Priest,
X came around at the end of day 2 and told us all to hunt for a bomb and we came up empty. Now we know why: they never made it to the drop off point. As for them "shooting as many of them as we could," I think maybe one or two guys got hit. We wiped them off that hummer like bugs on the windshield. That rocket shot of your set up a great attack for the rest of us.

I took out 2 on the left, the truck fired a shot up close and killed the vehicle. I shot Batman in the legs and he pulled them in and kept firing at you guys. Someone else on the truck shot him a second time and he kept shooting. Then me and another guy lit up his back. Then he finally called the hit. And they never shot anyone that I saw. Laugh!! Here's the video.

Video from Sunday : youtu.be/9z09KXFV6XIyoutu.be/5JY77wEeeK0I wish I had more time to shake hands with many from this forum. My squad was consistently retasked Saturday with a lot of move orders and was quite draining. As we all learned with that weather. If only we had the weather 3 days prior tothe game it would have been an entirely different game play.

Way to go priest, smitty, and A-team. You guys wrecked shit all weekend! It was awesome seeing the Humvee then seeing you guys roll up out of nowhere and chase them off! Thanks again for the respawn rides as well.
