I'm rather new here, (and by that I mean I just made an account) and I was wanting to know what brand of bbs you guys recommend and use, that won't be extremely pricey. I know it's not good to skimp out and buy cheap bbs due to the fact they may have seams and will cause an increase in wear and jams, but I don't want to have to spend up to $15 for 2000 rounds, either. I understand airsoft is an expensive sport and takes a lot of time and money to upkeep, but for bbs you can only use once the pricing is rather ridiculous. What brand of .20 gram bbs would you guys recommend that don't cost a lot, but are reliable and seamless? Would the ones I was looking at here be okay? www.ebay.com/itm/G-Tac-20G-Airsoft-BBs-5000-COUNT-High-Grade-Perfect-Seemless-/221188353565?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337fda6e1d Thanks in advance!

What gun do you plan to use them in? I tend to run a heavier bb in anything above 330 or so fps. Some guns below that still run better with heavier ammo. My p90 chronoed around 285 fps but I found it shot best with a 0.25g bb.

I'm running my M4 at 400 FPS as a field build with .20 gram BBs.

The BBs you linked are probably of decent quality, but if you plan on doing field, you shouldn't want to use .20s. In field/outdoor, what is significantly important is accuracy and range. With .20s, you can only really be so accurate outside, and then the wind takes it. But with heavier BBs, they are less affected by the wind, rendering straighter shots. And with range, a well adjusted hop up will help significantly.

Oh, crap, did I say field build? It's a CQB build, sorry. >.< I'm probably going to get a spring to take it down to 350 FPS or so, but until then, yes it shoots 400 FPS with .20 gram bbs.

In that case .20s will work a bit better. They are a sort of a standard for indoor CQB. But .25s are an all around standard, used pretty universally.

Yeah, I still have some black Crossman .25s, but they shoot horribly. I can barely tell where they go, and they aren't consistent, soI stopped using them.

Crossman ammo is going to be pretty unreliable. They don't have the quality control standards most companies appear to use.
I've been using elite force for a while now. I haven't found a single defect in the several bottles I have bought.
They are also pretty cheap. I'm also a fan of the bottles they come in. I haven't had any issues with them popping open in my gear bag.

If you think the pricing for BBs is expensive take a look at paintball prices. You can easily spend $40 for 2000 rounds. Then check the prices for real ammo! Ouch! $0.003 vs $0.70 (.223) I realize I'm comparing apples to giraffes here, but honestly, the cost of BBs is extremely low.
That being said I use airsoft elite BBs. They have always fed great and given consistent accuracy. You will usually spend around $12 for 4000 (11.50 on asgi). There might be even cheaper BBs out there but to me that's a dirt cheap price for good ammo. If you're buying online be sure to order more than one bag to reduce the per bag cost of shipping. I usually combine BBs into orders for other parts to meet the free shipping minimum.

I always use .25 gram bbs for both cqb and field. All of my gun chrono right around 305 fps with a .2g bb so .25s will take it down to about 297 fps. I personally love use either Bioval or madbull bbs. I've never had a single problem with either brand.

That surprises me. I would have expected your .25s to shoot around 270-280 if your .20s shoot 305. My gun goes from 350 to about 310.

My rounds were between $65 and $80 per case of 2000 and a day of paintball usually meant 2 cases.

@x You do make a fair point, but I'm just trying to get some good name brands and prices, not expecting to get 5000 rounds for $5 or something crazy like that, hahah.
Thanks so far to anyone who gave input, much obliged. I think I should have made this thread something like; "Your Favorite BBs and Why" instead, that way any noobs, (such as me,) could use it as a reference guide.

Glad to see that X posted, he’s the reason I bought a few bags of the airsoft elite bbs for my field guns. For CQB, since I play a lot, I use Matrix .23g and .25g from evike. They aren’t the best, but I needed a decent bb that was cheap and at $41-45 for 20k I like them and have had no problems. I would recommend using a heavier bb then .2g even for CQB, my guns perform much better with the .23g and .25g. I also buy enough so I qualify for free shipping or off set it with a coupon code. You may want to look at some other options; $12.99 with free shipping isn’t much of a deal unless you are only buying one bag.
