I recently purchased an Icom 4011 radio from Action Communications Inc. I chose to order through Ebay, using their Ebay store. I went for this seller, since comms were well discussed in the Northern Light sub board and this seller had been recommended. I chose to order the unit and have it custom programmed by them. I sent the seller the frequency list as they had requested, using the message option in PayPal when I paid. I specifically put at the very top of the list that if there were ANY questions whatsoever, to not hesitate calling me, and I provided my cell phone number.
I received my package one week later. There were no problems with packaging, and the radio appeared to be brand new. I quickly noticed that only the first 6 channels were programmed, so I sent a message to the seller asking if there was a way to have it programmed quickly and correctly as I needed the radio for Northern Light this month. Here is the reply I received:
"When the invoice was received and printed out, only 6 channels appeared on the invoice. Ebay will only allow so many characters and I assume that it cut off channels from 7 on. The only way you can program the radio is with software and cable. If you send us the radio AND a complete programming list, we will do the programming for you at no additional cost. If you ship it priority mail small flat rate box, it should arrive in 2-3 days. You can either enclose payment for return shipping or provide a prepaid label or stamps for return shipping to you and get it back to you in 2-3 days. Thank you, Brian Baxter "
I replied and let them know that there was no way I was going to pay shipping both ways. I'll just have it programmed at NL, since I'm aware that some of our members are going to set up programming stations there.
All in all, I'd have to give them a C grade. From what others have said in the NL sub board, they seem more than happy to assist you when you are interested in placing an order. Once they have your money, good luck. When I ordered the item, I saw no other place where I could had included a message to the seller, so it's shocking to me that the seller would not doublecheck the programming list when they only see 6 channels (even though they ALREADY know that ebay doesn't give you enough space), with all the room for a message filled up on the invoice. I was hoping that by including my phone number with a note to call me about any questions, something like this could be prevented from occurring in the first place.
As a buyer, I will never do business with a seller who does not stand behind their work, 100%. The buyer blaims ebay for the mistake and then expects me to pay shipping both ways when they didn't even program it as I specified.
TL;DR - I bought a radio, sent a programming list, seller didn't program fully, expects me to pay shipping both ways for their mistake.
