Hello guys! After attending my first rec game today(NoLimits 4/20) which was a ton of fun! I defiantly am going to invest in a new tactical gear set! I am looking to get the whole kit and kit and caboodle and price isnt THAT big of an issue (keep it below like 300-400 bucks and I should be good.) So, I just had a few questions, What is a good, beginner-intermediate set, I am a rifleman, use an FAL, and my m1911 should be coming in soon! So im looking for a good plate carrier(looking for some customization because I never know when I might want to change things up). Any recommendations on BDU's? Also if you have anything in your kit that you think has made life so much easier, let me know, I might consider incorporating it into my set. One of my number one questions is camo, I like the green look but am not 100% sure, so let me know what you personally use, and then give me some recommendations on what you think would be best, Thanks a ton in advance.

Kelvik: Pantac and Flyye is a pretty good mid-level gear set for the price you listed.
As far as BDU's a lot of Marines are coming home. Pick up a set of Propper FROG gear. I do believe I've been seeing tan sets around 80 dollars for both top and bottom on ebay in excellent condition. As far as M81 (woodland) Is concerned I'd pick up a set from a surplus store on ebay. Extremely cheap.
Slings I'd stay away from 1 points as they can be rough on the neck with chaffing if not done right. If you do go 1 point go with a Magpul MS2 or 3, possibly a BFG Padded.
Kneepads: Save your knees! This seems like a hinderance but when you have to drop fast and don't look where you land... it can make for a painful day.
Boots: Good Lord, whatever you do: DO NOT cheap out here. Find a good pair of Hiking boots. Browse the REI Closeout section and find a great pair of last seasons unsold items at over 50% off.
Belt: Get a nice stiff gunbelt for your 1911's holster.
Holster: I run mine in a serpa on a belt mount w/ lanyard.
Last bit of experienced advice. Don't carry useless things with you on the field. Every bit of weight counts!

The basics are summed up really well above^. I'd also like to add a hydration carrier. Go with the pantac MBSS. Its a good cheap plate carrier. If you have money and want sides go with the pantac 6094(lighter) or CIRAS(heavier). And I cannot stress enough not to carry more than you need. Get coyote or OD gear. Gear with a pattern on it(m81 or ACU) doesn't go with any other uniforms except the one its patterned after.

If you have multicam, be prepared to be the team swapper. It's a universal color and is usually assigned to the team with the least players (at our rec events.) In some mil-sims it's actually outlawed for some dumb reason.
Multicam gear and BDU's tend to run premium prices as it's high in demand.

I'd check surplus stores for MARPAT. I can usually pick up a full (used) uniform for 30$.

Joes Army Navy and other surplus stores. Its kinda rare, but you can score HUGE deals there. I got a surplus pack of Revision Desert Locusts and 2 pairs of Revision Sawflys for $60.

If you have multicam, be prepared to be the team swapper. It's a universal color and is usually assigned to the team with the least players (at our rec events.) In some mil-sims it's actually outlawed for some dumb reason. It's because many mil-sim games run green vs tan, and MC can look like either depending on the situation. Of course most games also allow you to mismatch your LBE, so MC gear is much less of a problem than MC BDUs. Properly matching your gear to your BDUs can cut down on mistaken identity but it's not essential. Once you get your basic loadout squared away, I'd suggest buying a more sets of BDUs so that you're prepared for events with restrictions. At this point I have basic clothes in OD, woodland, MC, 3-color desert, and flektarn, which means that it's almost impossible for anyone to run an event I can't gear up for.

In some mil-sims it's actually outlawed for some dumb reason. Basically, it causes identification problems that result in friendly fires or identification mistakes. These piss people off, and event hosts don't like pissed off players, so it's easier to outlaw it on one side totally. However, just starting off, you probably won't attend any such events so don't worry about it. It's a good versatile pattern and fairly popular here, so you should be able to get tons of advice on it.
