Don't bother with EBB. It does absolutely nothing and can cause more issues than it's worth. Get a regular AEG and go from there. *Edit* either way, would the Ares G36K be better to mod into a Reaper's Custom one from DOOM or would the JB G36K be better as it isn't as expensive? both look nice and have good FPS I'm just wondering would it be better to get the more expensive one and mod it or the get the cheaper version and mod itDon't bother with EBB. Also, if you're customizing the shit out of it, there's no point in buying a more expensive model. It's not gonna look the same in the end if you succeed, right? No, with any luck when I am done with it it will look like this:

Definitely spring for the JG. They work surprisingly well out of the box for a clone, and I was told time and time again their internals will take a beating as long as you get them shimmed up decently. Have an experienced tech member on the board do the shimming for you, I don't even trust myself to do it. Then again, I'm not much of a tech. That's something it won't hurt to look into in the long run. Watch some videos on youtube about how to break a gun down, change a hop-up or inner barrel, how to install and adjust a motor, how to troubleshoot, and how to disassemble and reassemble a V2 gearbox. It'll help you more than ANYTHING.
Just don't practice on your only gun...

I've never been too crazy over custom externals. I mean sure, I upgrade my guns with whatever parts I can by, but not parts that I can make. I'm sure some people on the forum can be more helpful in this area than myself.

Two points, everybody has more or less covered the rest.
1) I didn't tell you to stay away from Umarex, I told you to research who the original manufacturer is before you buy a gun that's sold under the Umarex brand. Because they are not a manufacturer, you can't judge one Umarex gun based on another. Some of their products are outstanding, some are terrible, and some are just okay. The best stock AEG I've ever owned was a Umarex licensed HK416. That gun is made by VFC, a well known high end manufacturer. I knew that VFC made that particular replica, so I knew what I was buying. If you're interested in a G36 from Umarex, you need to figure out who the original manufacturer is and then research how good their G36 replica is.
2) Don't do major custom mods, even external ones, on your first and only real AEG. Wait until you have two high quality and reliable guns before you start tearing one apart. You're going to end up causing a problem, not because you're new or you're dumb or anything like that, but because everybody always blows up their gun the first time they try to do major work on it. There are so many little things that have to work right for your AEG to actually shoot every round on target every time, and it's alarmingly easy to screw up that set up. Get yourself a working rifle that you can always depend on, then get yourself a project gun to turn into whatever your dream rifle is. Yeah, it sucks not to have instant gratification. It sucks even more to miss the entire summer's season because you can't get your only AEG into working condition.

I probably will get the JBG36K and just hold off working on it until I have a 3rd good gun

I think the previous posts have covered that well enough. He said he's going to get a JG G36. Pretty sure the B was a typo.

Really? this debate has already ended. I would reiterate that others have stated they are not necessarily crap just because wallmart sells them. But you are not worth the time. *Picks up his M4 Viper and walks away, Castle of Glass Playing in the background*

Anyways, i you plan on upgrading the gun, go with the JG G36. I had one and ran it stock and it worked great with a 9.6v. I destroyed it when I ran a 11.1 for 5 shots. For your custom externals, do you plan on machining them or do you plan on trying to source them?

Most 3D printer material would get all busted to shit if you actually brought the gun to a game. There are some that print in materials that would be fine, but those are seriously expensive printers. We have a rather nice one at my work that ran us around $30k $42k but the material that it uses is like what I was saying. It would get all busted up if a BB were to hit it, or you banged it around while playing. So take that price tag and go way up from there. **Edited for price correction**

Maybe you want to 3d print the external modification parts, sand and fine tune them to fit gun perfectly, make a mold of the pieces with plaster, then use ABS resin to make the parts, attach parts and some metal accessories, then paint the whole thing. Just an Idea, probably wont be cheap; you'll have to research it and practice making things from ABS resin first. However once you've done all this you can make as many external kits as you want, just make more resin parts using the same molds.
