Hello Everyone names Phantom Reaper, or PR (Crap my name is an acronym for Public Relations) Anyway Real Names Devon, never was to quiet bout my real name. I have been lurking around the forums here for a few months, been doing extensive research into Airsoft, how the rules are, and such. Seems simple enough, you're shot, you're dead. (I know theres more too it then that I have read the rules)
Anyway I'm in the Wayne County Area, Southfield, and picked up my first AEG, the Ignite M4 Viper, after watching every review I could find it may be from Wallyworld but its a Decent gun, A friend gave me an Ignite 1911 Scorpion a month before, only problem is it has no orange tip, which it originally had, but I didn't take it off so I am unsure what to do, but I still love it, its my favorite Pistol and I call her Sally. Moving On, So I've been progressing my way as to gearing myself up, got a 40 count of C02 for Sally, and 10,000 Colt Standard .12 BBs, don't know how much better the .20's are. I'm working on getting the rest such as face protection, extra mags ect. I want to take the time and be as prepared as possible before entering the combat zone, I would also like to get a Carrying bag for my M4, preferably at low cost. I'm open to any suggestions or criticisms, I want to do what I need to to play safe and have fun. Yeah I know Im a N00b but please try to refrain from calling me that, I really dislike it.
Anyway from what I've seen you guys are a great Community and only rarely rage, much like the STO Community at the mention of JJ Abrams and I hope to have lots of great Airsoft battle stories to tell someday. Thanks for reading and again any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated ;D

First and foremost, Welcome.
The best bit of advice I can give you is: Don't use .12g bbs. Outside of grenades and claymores, they serve no purpose other than causing problems in airsoft. At the very minimum you'll want to use .20g bbs, and will probably find yourself using even heavier bbs once you begin to play outside more.
Again, welcome.

Just kidding, thank you for the advice, and From now On I guess I'll use the Ingite Black ops .20 biodegradables

As you get more involved with the sport, you'll realize that FPS isn't all it's cracked up to be. Heavier weight bbs tend to be much more accurate. Tokyo Mauri aegs are designed to shoots under 350 ( most are well under that in stock form) and are some of the most accurate replicas you can buy.
Don't worry about feeling like a newb, trust me, we've all been there.
My best advice is use the knowledge base of the other members here. I spent months planning out what I was going to buy before I ever even went to a single event. Had I taken the time to listen to what others had to say here as far as recommendations to new players, I would have saved myself a lot of money and time.
My team is hosting a rec game on the 20th in Taylor. Even if you're not ready to play, you should come and check things out. That way you can get a first hand glimpse into what things are like at events.

I mean I already opened the dang box. and as for recommendations its why I'm here. While I may not ask for help with Video games or math, Strategy and Combat are things I know there is always need to improve. A team is only as strong as its weakest member as they say

Hold on to them, you can always figure out something to do with them. If you end up getting a grenade or claymore, they're perfect for that. Some ( not many, but I have hear of it) people use them in spring shotguns, so maybe you could try that.

That's what I was thinking when I first started, FPS is everything. But higher gram bb the more accuracy you will have. Also one thing I suggest to all new players is get a hydration carrier, best thing I ever purchased .
Also, welcome to the boards!

You're probably better off not buying bbs at Walmart anyway. The difference in accuracy is pretty stark between the low quality brands and the higher end brands, and Walmart doesn't carry anything that even comes close to the nicer stuff.
For what it's worth, I don't run anything lighter than .25g bbs through my guns. To a certain point, the heavier bbs actually have more range than lighter bbs. The lighter bbs start of going faster, but they're also slowed much more by drag (and blown off course by cross winds and knocked around by twigs and leaves). By the time your bb reaches your target, the heavier round is moving faster and hitting a bit harder.
As the end user, you don't need to have an orange tip on your airsoft guns, and most of us remove them immediately. Whether you have the orange tip or not, you obviously don't want to display them publicly. They look real enough that the absolute best case scenario is the cops show up and don't shoot you. Be smart and keep them in a case or a bag (I would grab a hard case from Dunhams or whatever your local sporting goods store is), transport them in your trunk as though they were real, and only take them out at sanctioned games at legal fields and in your house and you'll be fine.

Welcome to the boards. Check out all the threads that are stickied ( ). It will save you from making a lot of the basic mistakes that people make when they are starting out. I did the same things you did before I learned. Hopefully those threads will save you some headaches. Definitely try to make it out to a game even if you are just there to observe. Don't feel that you have to be 100% before you can attend. It will give you a good chance to see things for yourself and ask questions and get to know the community in person.

Welcome to the community.
Since you're new, I'm not going to assume you know that you need to have full seal goggles. It's not only a very important piece of safety equipment, but also absolutely required in order to play at any game listed on this forum.
The purpose for .20 gram BBs is twofold: 1. The heavier weight BB will not only be more accurate, less effected by wind, and penetrate brush better, it will also fly further. This is assuming your hop up is up to the job. Which any gun with a hop up should be, otherwise it's not worth your money. 2. The .12 grab BBs are often (if not always) poor enough quality that you will run into issues with them breaking in your gun. Once one breaks, usually more will. This can end very badly, with the internals of your gun getting busted up.
This all being said, like Pagan mentioned, I use them in my claymore and my grenades.
Edit: Typing on my phone is so much slower than in a PC! I see that Kneif already touched on the BBs, since I started typing. There are a few real airsoft stores locally, as well as the field owners that sell good quality BBs. Look up Action Paintball in Livonia (the owners of the No Limits field), or Spy-Ops in Southfield, or Commandos in Garden City, and Roseville. The field owners have indicated that they will have BBs at the field, for purchase, as well.

So then the Ignite Black Ops Biodegradable .20g bb's are also garbage? 0.o

Without having used those specifically myself, the best answer I can give is: It is very unlikely that they're good.
