To be clear, this is NOT an airsoft match. Airsoft weaponry is not to be brought.
May 11-12: East Wind Fieldcraft event at Pinckney State Recreation Area
This event will be targeted towards milsim airsofters looking to develop competencies needed for multi-day ops. The event is designed to build on basic field sustenance skills, patrolling techniques, and land navigation abilities.
What:
A weekend of rucksack hiking and battle drills arranged to help airsofters better prepare themselves for the East Wind battlefield. Attendees will be broken up into small patrols and will be given a series of non-direct action combat related missions. Individual attendees are encouraged to PM me with specific personal goals that they would like to work on; the event will be arranged to provide the maximum benefit to all who attend.
When:
Starting on Saturday, May 11 at 11:00; ending on Sunday, May 12 at around 13:00.
Where:
Pinckney State Recreation Area, in Livingston and Washtenaw Counties.
How much $?
Cost for this event is $15 and includes meals.
What do attendees need to bring?
This course is taught “on the march” so attendees will need to have the following:
EVERYTHING you will be using for the weekend must be packed in your rucksack or worn on your person. Civilian alternatives to required items are permitted as necessary.
What should attendees expect?
This event will be run in the field so you’ll be starting off at the staging area, doing a brief gear check, and pushing out from there. Patrols will have mission sets that will allow each individual in the patrol as well as the patrol as a whole to maximize learning during the course of the weekend.
Who should attend?
This course is open to anyone of reasonable fitness who is interested in improving their fieldcraft regardless of if they ever intend to attend East Wind.
Do I need period correct uniform / gear?
While there is no secret that this event is targeted for players interested in attending Operation: East Wind at some point in the future, there will be no requirement to wear suitable gear at this point - I am solely interested in players developing knowledge and experience.
How do I sign up?
Reply in this thread, or PM me (Impulse). Include details of what you're looking to get out of the event, and any special gear you have to offer.
Will there be any other opportunities to use these skills?
Yes. I plan to hold at least four land navigation/sustainment and survival weekends this spring and summer. There will also be weekends targeted towards more combat-related competencies (on airsoft-friendly terrain), and if the preceding events are successful, a force-on-force scenario this autumn. And, of course, East Wind itself.
