Hey guys, I'm pretty much brand new to this sport. It looks incredibly fun, and it seems like people on the boards are of good-nature. I've purchased my guns, and I'm looking to picking up some gear pretty soon. I hope to be playing lots of CQB at Michigan's indoor fields, as well as going to outdoor rec games and milsim events. I don't have any military experience or combat training, but I have played paintball for a few years and I have experience in firing real steel weapons at ranges. Any advice you can offer to a newbie is greatly appreciated. I look forward to meeting some of you guys at local games, and I'll do my absolute best not to get in the way!

Your grammar is perfect, which will take you a looonnnggg way on this forum. You picked the right sport as far as fun goes. Expensive as hell, but fun. For the advice:
I noted that you already purchased a replica? Hopefully you picked up a decent brand, and a type of rifle that is not only modular, but non-proprietary. A good example being a G&G Combat Machine, simply because they're great to build off of. G&G makes quite a few variants in the combat machine department, and for the price, it's nice to just upgrade a part or two here and there until you end up with a finished product. Worst case scenario, you upgrade a few parts and decide that model of rifle isn't quite your cup of tea. Sell the rifle on here and make back most of your money rather than spending $500+ on a gun that you don't like and can't sell because of our anemic economy.
As for gear, it's hard to give advice. Some people like super lightweight, high speed/low drag gear. Some people like a heavier rig with more pouches and more body coverage. The best thing to do is decide what YOU are looking for in a carrier and head that direction. Most people try quite a few before they find one they like. Hell, I went through a CIRAS, an HSGI Wasatch, a TT MAV, a Pantac Wasatch, an Eagle chest rig, and now I'm getting rid of my Eagle RRV. Do a lot of research on this topic and DON'T SKIMP OUT. I try to buy everything real-steel, simply for durability and feel. I've never had so much as a tear on any of my gear as a result.
Hope any of this helps! Welcome to the boards.

I'm from Waterford.
I currently have a CA90 and a KWA H&K USP Compact. If I find myself playing a ton I'll most likely look to buy a field rifle too. I really like to opt for FN Herstal replicas; they're mostly ambidextrous and I'm a lefty.

I actually bought a P90 replica, haha. It's a Classic Army. I wanted to get something small and low enough FPS for CQB. I'll keep what you said in mind for sure. I'll ensure to do a lot of research before I start buying some gear. I know for sure I need a vest and mag pouches, so I'll probably start there.

Welcome to MiA! Read the stickies and keep up the good grammar, that'll take you a long way with the mods.
I see you have already been discussing gear with Fugazi, who is an upstanding gentleman.

I see you have already been discussing gear with Fugazi, who is an upstanding gentleman. D'awh, thanks Dallas! Judging by you buying a gun with concern for it's LACK of FPS rather than EXCESS, I'd say you're going to do great on the boards. You don't appear to have ZOMG500FPSWIFF.12s:3 syndrome, which is the worst syndrome... Keep your eyes out in the commerce section for gear, a lot of dudes including myself are selling real-steel rigs right now, and probably for a lot less than they would traditionally go for. Best of luck dude, can't wait to see you at a game!
