Time to get my final gun for my collection. A M16. I am stuck on three following M16s and a quick pros and cons list I wrote up outside of the reviews posted on the website. I would like to have RIS on it at a later date so I can have different add ons.
Echo 1 STAG-15 A4 Rifle AEG Airsoft Gun: -Pros: Cost Comes with a free gift (promo). Thinking about a red dot ($30) -Cons: Silver plug, hole thing in the stock Plastic Need to buy RIS for it
JG M16A4 RIS Enhanced AEG Airsoft Gun: -Pros: RIS rails Cost Full solid stock. No silver hole -Cons: JG (I heard a bunch of horror stories about JG M4s so I don't know if their JG M16s suck or not) Plastic
A&K Full Metal M16-A4 SPR AEG Airsoft Gun: -Pros: RIS rails Metal Ball Bearing Spring Guide (good right?) Vertical Foregrip comes with it METAL! Hopefully not pot metal... -Cons: Price. Ew.
The only problem I have with plastic is that I am worried if I fall, it will break thus it will cost more money to fix :/
I am leaning towards the A&K M16 because it is metal, has the metal spring guide and RIS comes with it.

Out of those choices I would probably go with the A&K because of the metal receiver. It's almost certainly pot metal, but probably a little stronger than the JG plastic. For a little more cash you could go the G&G route: www.hitguns.com/G-G-M16-A2-GR-16S-A2-p/gg-egr-16s-a2.htmOne last thing. Don't trust the reviews on retailer websites most of those people have no idea what they're talking about. Look for someone who's done a full breakdown of the gun and has pictures to back up what they're saying. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

I am leaning towards the A&K M16 because it is metal, has the metal spring guide and RIS comes with it. Quality high impact ABS plastic will hold up much better than pot metal. I've dropped some ABS plastic guns before and didn't have any issues with them breaking. But like X said, just do a Google review for each one and you should find plenty of information to reach an informed decision on the guns you linked.

What makes you say it's pot metal?
Have been doing some reviews but at the same time, the more feed back I get, the better.

Because it's A&K. If it was a specific metal I would expect them to advertise it. Pot metal is cheap to cast and so most if not all metal Chinese guns are likely pot metal. I would actually be surprised if higher quality Taiwanese guns are not pot metal also.
Edit: KWA's website says its a full metal alloy receiver which leads me to believe they are also pot metal.
Edit2: SystemAs are Aluminum.
Edit3: apparently KWA is some super secret aluminum based alloy so not super shitty zinc as I originally thought.

It might also be worth noting that for the cheaper Echo 1 guns, the OEM is most likely JG, and therefor the internal quality will be about the same. If choosing between the two you should only be making your choice off of the externals. I would recommend as X did and save a little for a G&G (they make some really high quality AR variants for that price range,).

Eh, their receivers break from regular take down. Get a metal bodied gun.

Save up and get yourself a G&G. Or a Tokyo Marui. You'll be spending more money on it, but it will last longer, and shoot well out of the box. You'll be so much happier with it in the long run. If you only plan on dolling it up on the exterior, this would absolutely be my suggestion. Shop around for a better price, but here is what you'll be looking for: www.evike.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_44_617&products_id=41081. Now, you could get something like an A2, and add an RIS down the road. This would save some money up front, and open up a lot of options (DD rail, KAC, whatever you fancy). If you plan on upgrading your internals, however, I would recommend getting a G&P -- they have some of the nicest externals around, which (if this were the case) would be all that mattered. Either way you go, I strongly STRONGLY suggest saving your money for a while. This is, as you put it, the final gun for your collection. Make it a nice piece.

Pretty sure there's some board members over in commerce looking to drop off M16's. If those aren't to your liking, you can just start a thread looking for one. You can probably end up getting a high-end used one for around the same price as a clone if you play your cards right.

Thanks a ton guys. I am planning to upgrade it depending on how it works out of the box.
I was about to buy the A&K M16 A4 from Airsoft GI but it's out of stock. I hope they get back in stock...
But...
If the gun is never going to be back in stock, what about the Boyi Dboys M16A4 RIS? From the looks of it, it's pretty nice but at the same time, it looks like that it's inaccurate while on full auto. All of these reviews was years ago so I don't know if Dboys fixed some f these problems or not.

Non of the guns are internally sound. Get G&G. They are so much better.

That sort of response is a lot more helpful when you tell the person why to get the VFC.

I am planning to upgrade it depending on how it works out of the box. This raises a couple questions. Namely, what kind of performance do you want to see out of the gun? Will it be a general field rifle, or do you want to make a DMR out of it? If this is a field rifle, I would reccommend A G&G, because it will be reliable out of the box, and if you treat it right, it just might outlast you. If you want anything else, I would reiterate my position on G&P If the gun is never going to be back in stock, what about the Boyi Dboys M16A4 RIS? From the looks of it, it's pretty nice but at the same time, it looks like that it's inaccurate while on full auto. All of these reviews was years ago so I don't know if Dboys fixed some f these problems or not. I can't say with certainty, but I would be willing to bet good money that they have not. Whatever you do end up buying, make sure you shop around. AirsoftGI rarely, if ever, has the best price on something. Make sure you check Hong Kong retailers as well. The shipping cost isn't actually as bad as everyone perceives it to be.
