The problem I see most of the time is parents treating their children with disabilities like they are as fragile as a wet piece of toilet paper. If you give the kid a crutch, they'll use it every chance possible. I have seen plenty of kids overcome much more severe disabilities, writing and creating beautiful pieces of work.
If you label yourself by your disability, you've lost the battle. If you treat yourself like a normal human being, you will overcome the adversity that was handed to you at birth.
Please, tell me I'm wrong, and I could literally show you plenty of examples if it weren't for the pesky FERPA laws.
