I picked up a Maruzen M870 (shell ejecting grip version) but the one that I bought was the extended 7 shell tube. I really don't think the extension is gonna be my thing and would like to move down to the 4 shell tube. I know G&P sells Maruzen front end sets (barrel/tube) but is there anything else I would have to pick up if I wanted to move down to the smaller length? Anything internal to the shell tube that wouldn't be able to be swapped from one to the other.
I posted this in the Airsoft Society forums awhile ago but got no replies. Hoping to find someone here that may have experience doing this.

As far as I know, they take real steel shell tubes. So you could replace it with one from real steel. All my G&P M1100 has is a spring, a follower, and the end cap (which I believe all that the real steel version has). I haven't taken mine down that far yet, but I'm sure you could remove it, cut it down to the desired length along with the spring, but then there's no going back. You could always put something into the tube in front of the spring (about the size of 2-2.5 shells in length since the longer spring would probably condense to 1 shell).
Just remove your shell cap screw, and remove the internals to see. It should just be a cap (follower) and a spring internally.

Ok so whatever internals that are required should be able to be swapped fairly easily between the two tubes. And I don't have to take it that far. G&P does still have the medium length front barrel/tube set for sale. Once the maruzen gets here I'll likely pick that up along with a G&P metal receiver for it. As for your comment about the real steel ones. From what I've read this won't work. Something about the threading of the real steel part being grossly out of line with the airsoft grade part. airsoftpacific.com/viewtopic.php?t=17986If someone here can tell me differently that would be fine too. |

I was told they would work, but I never found out for myself (working on something different to fit my customization needs). Be careful that you are buying a set made for the M870, and not the CA870 though, Ehobby Asia isn't working for me at the moment, but WGCShop showed me the VFC custom barrel for the CA870 (which is the spring version of the 870). G&P also makes an M870 (which I'd assume that's what the G&P sets are meant for and not the Maruzens). So make sure that it will fit the Maruzen before you purchase it (Since the G&P's take magazines and the Maruzen shell eject styles might have vary in body styles slightly enough not to work).

My maruzen 870 standard version is coming Monday I can trade you the cap that closes the tube to hold only the standard 4 + one in the chamber for the shell tube?
