I'm just saying that if its been said already by two other people you don't have to repeat it but in a shitty way. So general consensus is: neat idea but leave it at the rec games. Thanks everybody who contributed a good argument

Dude chill out, I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I assumed there was something other clue, as there was. Barrel on my real steel is thinner than the airsoft one. The airsoft one is accurate in diameter I just have a lightweight barrel on my real gun. Also in case any didn't notice the stocks are switched. Unfortunately I didn't set this picture up for this purpose otherwise it may have been slightly more difficult. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

If you can make it like the real steel, go for it. If not, then it's your project to work on and admire outside the more strict Milsims.
I think we're good here. I would like to respectfully ask that a mod lock this thread in fear that we may be loosing sight of its purpose.

For the price of what you'll have to invest into the AUG to turn it into an H-Bar, you could have simply invested it towards an actual M249. This is from having converted my AUG personally into an H-Bar (back before there was a kit, I made all the parts custom).
For whatever reason, I can't find the topic I made back when I was trying to get insight into it. It's a cool idea and all, but it's not very practical. I modified an Mp5 drum magazine to work inside of it (basically cut an AUG mag open and glued/reinforced it on top of the drum magazine). Shouldering it with a drum magazine wasn't comfy at all. Not to mention I highly doubt running a feeder tube line from your vest to a modified box magazine will be comfy either (seeing as how an m249 box magazine is wider than a drum magazine). The pause between semi and full-auto was annoying also. If I hadn't decided on making it a DMR platform when I picked up a Phantom kit, I would have removed the ability for semi-auto, but in doing so it's be permanent unless I found the parts to replace it (which aren't common, you don't see anyone selling AUG body trigger assemblies, though maybe they sell them now).
I'd rather they made hi-cap long AUG magazines, but then again who wants a support gun that changes magazines out every 450-600rounds when you have a 2500+ from an M249? Not me.
