Ive seen so many forums filled with biased opinions and reviews between VFC and KWA. Ive been looking at the KWA KM4 SR7 and I know that KWA is pretty proprietary but really all I want to do is be able to shoot .25 or .28 at a decent range and still get at least 350+ FPS.
I guess im looking to find out which is the best route to go with. The KWA is only $300 leaving some extra cash for a high torque motor, spring, and barrel if need be, where as, VFCs are atleast around $400 for the similar style so why spend the extra $100 or so?
Opionions people??

I've owned two KWA's, the first a 2GX and now an older model. The only proprietary parts on KWA's are the hop ups, receivers, and gearbox shell. Most everything else is as compatible as any other brand. My first shot 398 with. 20's, my current shot at 370 with. 20s, probably because its an older gun. Both easily reach out and hit a 3' wide tree at 150'. Its not super accurate with grouping, but its definitely not horrible. It doesn't need a new motor, anyways. KWA's are designed to be ready to go out of the box, and aren't a bad choice. I've never owned a VFC , but from hearing about them on the forums and elsewhere, they seem to have excellent externals and decent internals. That's all I can say.

Not exactly true.... the airnozzle is also proprietary. I have also seen their trigger mech being offspec. Don't need to replace the motor? That's debatable... it is a ferrite motor. This forum seems kwa friendly but I come from a not so friendly forum. So take my points with a grain of salt. My biggest pet peeve with KWA is they are overpriced for what you get. Granted its decent out of the box but so is G&G. Externals are not anything special. Their "lipo" ready marketing is a joke. As to VFC their externals are top notch. Internals are a little weak. The biggest problems being their gears and pistons. Sent from my VS910 4G using proboards

I've never run anything but an 11.1V LiPo in my KWA, and I've had it since July 2010. I've never opened up the gearbox, and have only replaced the inner barrel with a 6.03mm Prometheus. It's been running like a champ through cold weather, heavy downpours, and seriously dusty environments. I don't feel as though I've overpaid at all. Maybe other peoples mileage may vary, or the cost of the rifle might seem more steep to them than I, but I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I have never owned a KWA, but I do currently own a VFC(416 CQB). I've had it since May of last year, and have already needed repairs. Only a few months after it was purchased, my tappet plate busted. Im not sure how it happened, but I wasn't very happy about it. Also, I paid about $450 new for it, yet it came with a plastic hop-up, and didn't even have a rear sling point. Another problem I found was that it would not except Beta Project P-mags. Now don't get me wrong, I love my rifle, it has GREAT externals, and pretty good stock internals, but I'm not a huge fan of it breaking a few months after purchase.

I have King Arms m4 mags, will these feed fine in a KWA? What I use in mine, and they fit and feed just fine at 26 RPS.

Well so far KWA seems to be the most decent for the price

Just like every brand, each has their downfalls (some more than most). It all depends on what you want out of your replica. Do you care if it's a metal body or ABS? Does it sway you in any least on the trades? What kind of battery are you going to be running out of the box (9.6v, 11.v Lipo, ect.)? Is this your first, main, or only replica?
I have personally worked on both and depending if you're on a tighter budget, would suggest a KWA over a VFC. VFC's are more known for their externals, rather than their internals, although they are still great guns (their internals would be far superior to something like JG/CYMA or possibly even proline G&G's, in my opinion though).
Not every part from every brand is built the same, some parts may have higher QC issues in some guns, and sometimes that's a small price to pay if you know what you're doing. Hypothetically if a VFC's only weakness compared to a KWA is a tappet plate, but you know how to replace it with a better one. Is it then worth $150 more if you know by simply replacing the tappet plate with an aftermarket on will get you longer mileage out of the VFC than the KWA.

Hmm I currently own a G&G combat machine and wanted another M4 and KWAs reputation around their KM4s seem great because I don't want much except to be able to shoot .25s at 350+fps and decent accuracy... I have no intentions of changing anything other than barrel, motor, or spring... Whatever I need to do to accomplish this

Look into their rear-wired guns. The standard KM4A1 and KM4A1 CQB are good guns, but the front wiring prohibits a lot of accessorizing options. Are you looking to use it indoors or outdoors?

Honestly ghost, for what you're wanting out of the rifle have you looked at the new Lonex line? My brother got one for Christmas and I'm extremely impressed. Stock ROF on a 9.6 is faster than my stock G&P on an 11.1, trigger response is great, and it has Lonex internals, so no worries about breaks for a long time. The only small grip I have is that the trades are a tad ugly. The Lonex goes for $220-250, so that leaves plenty of room open in your budget for anything you may want to do to it.

I'm rather impressed by the Lonex. I've owned VFC, KWA, and currently run a G&P, and this Lonex blows them out of the water.
