Hi all. I am a part of a small group of players in the Novi/Walled Lake Area and we are looking for more players! All experience levels welcome! We have people that play in full camo/BDUs with high end AEGs and we have people that play in blue jeans with spring pistols, all are welcome! Ages 15+ preferredMost of our games are outdoors in wooded areas. We adhere to basic, common sense rules. Nothing too extreme and try to make games as fair as possible. Here's our facebook page to anyone interested: www.facebook.com/groups/129527790495935/Or you can PM me for more details. We're trying to get a game together over this coming up holiday break sometime.

Looks like this is their field based on what I saw on their facebook: Hickory Glen Park www.facebook.com/events/187590868049694/Anyone using public land to play airsoft is subject to arrest and having all their stuff confiscated and never returned. It happened to someone who used to be on this forum. You also run the risk of being reported to the police and since the guns are so realistic, I would not be surprised if they sent a swat team to put confront them. There are enough fields in SEMIA that playing on public land is not necessary. It is dangerous for everyone involved and it is the kind of stupid stuff that will make the evening news and get our sport banned especially on a time like this where gun control is being hotly debated.

We have been playing at this place since early 2000 with no problems what so ever. It's not like a regular park, with giant green fields and swing sets. It's set deep in the woods. The only thing back there is a few bike trails. Also Michigan is an open carry state. If I can carry my REAL firearm on me, loaded, legally, whats so bad about airsoft?
I personally don't like playing at the legit fields for many reasons. Speaking from personal experience.
Most people at the events are rude to new players. Nobody is treated equal. The last few games I went to everyone treated me like I was 12 and that I had no Idea what I was doing. I have some friends that have gone to other games out of state and experienced the same issue.

I've never experienced this rude behavior to new players you speak of. Might I ask what fields you have played at? You also bring up the open carry. You are correct, Michigan is an open carry state, it's not an open brandish state. It's not a run around with your gun out pointing it in a threatening manner state. I'm sure you can see the difference.

Please, don't play at this park anymore. If you would like a calm and respectful description why, please PM me. We all care about both you and this sport. What you're doing could be dangerous to both. Feel free to contact me.

Hi there. I am the other admin of the advertised group and I made an account to post this:
We have used this field for more than ten years with no incidents whatsoever. We used a different area and someone did call the cops because one of the players strayed close to the road. The cop showed up, simply said 'just dont get too close to the road, if it were me I'd be out here with you guys', and left. The area we use is not even the 'park'. The 'park' is a baseball diamond and a football field, both devoid of human activity 98 percent of the time, about 300 yards from the field. It is public land which was once used as a paintball field before Airsoft barely even existed. It is completely legal to use the land and the occasional passerby might even point out where the enemy team is. Cease-fires are called when the rare civilian strolls through the woods with his dog, and the game resumes. Other groups of airsofters have used this land as well, most of them have joined up with us. Nearly twelve years without incident, playing a legal game on a plot of public land.
If anyone still wants to join our group, you're entirely welcome to.

I'd be happy to you to prove this entire veteran community wrong by giving us an actual legal document that says it's perfectly legal to play in a public park, or any public land for that matter. If you do, and it's legit, then you can settle the matter. Otherwise please quit antagonizing the issue and promoting something that is unethical, illegal, and lastly, not allowed on these forums.

This is just not a good idea to be playing here. By saying you have had no issue in the last 12 years does not make it safe. With all of the media attention on firearms these days all it takes is the wrong person to get a glimpse of you and a fun day of airsoft could turn tragic in a real hurry. What bothers me the most is that while I know you don't realize it, you are jeopardizing every ones ability to play airsoft. If something happens, which it will, that involves law enforcement it will cause negative media attention then brought to airsoft. Not that you will listen....but please stop.

There is no law that states that it is legal, nor is there any law that states that it is illegal. This is not a crowded state park, nor is it a campground, nor is it a playground. It is a vacant forest used by us for airsoft, and the occasional dirt biker or person walking his dog.
What the law does state is that brandishing your gun is illegal. Using airsoft guns for their intended purpose in an area not even visible from any surrounding road or residential area is not illegal. Running around at Proud Lake Campground waving your guns around like flashlights, is. Just because we generally prefer not to go to the official organized fields [for good reason], does not in any way mean we don't follow the same set of precautions as anyone would with a real firearm, as I have posted on our own forum as well as our facebook page. As I said above, not a single incident has occurred at our location for the entirety of the twelve years we've been playing there. The other location where I mentioned the cop showed up [and did not arrest anyone] happened because one of our lesser experienced players strayed close to the road. And again, there are no roads within visible range of the field we use now. We do not brandish our guns. When in transit, guns are in their cases, mags out, barrel plugs/bags/whatever are on, and batteries are out. If someone does something stupid deliberately in our group, they are out for one game as punishment. Thing is, no one has, so it hasn't been a problem.
If using an unofficial field is not condoned here, ban me. We are simply a group of airsofters looking for some more players.
Again, anyone from here is welcome to join us at any time, we're having a game in March.

Using an unofficial field that you either own or have the owner's permission to use is fine. Using public land is definitely not condoned here. We can't stop you from making a terrible choice, but you can't recruit players to join in on this forum. You're welcome to take part in the community and hopefully try out some other games. If you wish not to, that's your choice. But eventually your good times are going to end when somebody accidentally shoots a passer-by or a far less lenient, or worse, a far jumpier cop responds to a call about you. There are a lot of privately owned tracts of land not in use, I'm sure if you put some work in you could find an owner willing to let you play on his.
