Correct me if I'm wrong Exodus, but wasn't this your first CO gig?
You did a commendable job. I was impressed with your leadership and organization.

Correct me if I'm wrong Exodus, but wasn't this your first CO gig? You did a commendable job. I was impressed with your leadership and organization. My first airsoft stab at it yes. I was a bit concerned going into it without knowing too many people on my team besides the few SK guys, I've heard and been apart of some airsoft command horror stories. Overall the guys on my team really made the day. I was up front calling the fights as I saw them and people reacted with out second guessing me or going lone airsoft ninja. All in all they made it seem as easy as it did. But thanks haha.

Thadius, it was nice meeting you. I can tell you really want people to have a good time and it was nice to see you checking up on people and making sure everyone was having a good time. Field hospitality at its best.
This was my girl friends very first airsoft game. She actually had fun and wants to play again. She ended up with one kill, which is more than I thought as I expected her to leave after an hour. To top it all off she said she now understands why I need so much "airsoft shit". She decided that my Dboys RDW is now hers, it needs to shoot a little bit further, and I have to get a smaller vest for her since my RRV was too bulky. My latest purchase of a new radio went from "Why do you need another one when you already have one" to "Those features would be really useful out there". Fucking win.
Tan team failed (hard) due to poor communication and lack of a command structure. It was a clusterfuck. I was having comm problems (couldn't transmit, only receive) so I stuck with people who had working ones, and we never really received any orders. I knew we had to collect the manilla folders (didn't know why), and that we had to take the embassy. That was it. I was told the manilla folders were empty, but after opening one I found a financial statement. Now I'm reading there was a code to be found? News to me. I had no idea until lunch that Zulu had found a bomb, didn't find out until after lunch that there was a chemical weapons plant, and I had forgotten about the hostage.
There was virtually no order to our movements. My day consisted of moving with a group of random players for a short while, running into some green players, having a shoot out, then being pinned with a few tan players while the rest of them went to re spawn. I had people ask me for long range fire and then run off into the woods in some random direction. I spent a good chunk of the day waiting with Bones, Casper, and a couple of guys in 6 color desert waiting for reinforcements at the village. It was even worse after lunch. After re spawning I walked all the way to the trucks and down into the village without seeing any tan. I linked up with Deitman and someone in ACU and we went into the field by the embassy. We heard the sound of AEG's firing in the distance and we decided to check it out. I ended up on my own (not sure if they were shot out or just left) and I came across Zulu in the field. WTF? Where was the rest of tan? This was maybe 15-20 minutes before they called the game. Did the rest of the team push past the bridge or something?
It wasn't that anyone on tan was a bad player, but no one seemed to have any idea of what to do. I came across large groups of tan during the day standing in the road trying to figure out what to do but nothing seemed to materialize. People wanted to rush the bridge, sneak around the side of the embassy, take and keep the village. Our CO just never gave the order. I couldn't find our CO or XO and they were in my squad, on my team. I randomly bumped into them time to time but that was it. I heard someone say near the end that Wolf resigned as CO and that M.S. ARC was the new CO? That can't be true. I'm pretty sure ARC was just reffing, not calling any shots. Then I found out our XO was taken as CO and then executed. Fitting end. Tan command, disappointing. I know who they are (obviously) and I'll make sure they stay out of the command post in the future. They aren't good at that sort of thing. Sorry everyone.
Constructive comments:
I think the medic should be identified some way. I would hit someone and wait for the medic to come heal them, and I couldn't tell if the person was the medic or some random guy taking cover near the wounded player. It would be nice to know who the medic is so we can try to take them out first.
The woods behind the village could use some cover built in. The embassy side of the river has two large structures along the road with many windows and gaps, and the village side woods has pretty much nothing. I tried pushing through there a few times but we were just way too exposed to be able to do anything. There aren't any trees big enough to hide behind, and too much brush to move through quickly. Not to mention if you try and run you end up in that gulch.
Overall it was fun to play in the cold for once (remember the SK game last Feb that was 65 degrees?). I had no hit calling issues and didn't hear anyone screaming at anyone which was nice. It was a great group of players and great hosts.
Tan shall rise again.

That was news to me about being the replacement CO. I reffed the whole time although I did consider jumping on the tan team to help out except I was wearing marpat which would have been very confusing for the other side.

Medic Identification is a good idea.

Had a blast, lots of kills, only 2 mags. That means two things. The first is that I'm a great shot. The second (and more important) is that people were calling their hits. As usual, got to see a lot of people I love shooting with/at, and got to test out my detachment in a milsim op, which went exceptionally well. Great game Fishies, you outdid yourselves. Also, who has the pictures of SK-ESD with Knief popping in to all of them? I want.

Judging by the way that's my karma's been sinking like gold it seems people have assumed my entire AAR post was intended as a series of accusations and complaints against hellfish. It's not - the things that went poorly are due to various parties and aren't intended as complaints anyway - or are meant as discussion prompts for the community, not at all targeted toward this specific event. Sorry for hurting your pride or whatever, but all I posted was an even-handed play-by-play of the day's events. No need to be upset, it was still a fun day of playin' in the woods. So "take that up with $_x" responses aren't really helpful. But a few comments do need to be rebutted:
That map I posted was drawn up by someone else; I had stated when posting it that the western border was incorrect, as that clearing is certainly in play. The problem was the eastern side, I must have seen at least ten people using that area within the time I was laying out in the dollhouse area waiting for my squad to respawn.
My squad formed up and went over comms and battle drills. It appeared that the other groups were also squads - then as squad leader I went to the CO looking for a briefing, but nothing came down. So derpy derpy derp.
There's the attitude I'm looking for; I did overall have a good time, for sure, and will likely be back regardless of the little issues. And no one stole my jacket!

All right, the game from Team Hog’s perspective went very smooth. There were a few players that just seemed to loiter in the Embassy area not responding to orders. Anyway Team Hog and Charlie Company were tasked with protecting the Embassy, which was successfully accomplished. We received a FRAGO from the CO to locate the codes, which left us shorthanded, exposing our flank to attack, which the Tan team tried to exploit but through the successful redeployment of assets we managed to halt the attack. The game seemed to slow after lunch slowing until the end. From our perspective there didn't seem to be any issues that weren't addressed by the staff on the field. We would like to than the Hellfish for putting together a great event and the Suicide Kings for a great Sim experience. Also Thank you Thad ATS, for the field . CO"Hoot" Team HOG

Just to make it clear, there were at least two (at one point, three) objectives that required people to stay at the embassy.
The embassy had to be held at all costs and the bomb which was located at the embassy also had to be held. The hostage was also moved to the embassy at one point which was another objective. The majority of the people at the embassy were supposed to be there and were clearly trying to complete the objectives which was a major part of why Green was so dominant.
Green would not have done as well as they did if the guys at the embassy decided that all they want to do is go after firefights.

Oh Jeez, I suppose I'll work on my video footage tonight, not much interesting though. I basically was just guarding the embassy all day and meeting up with tan Zulu. The end of the footage is good though, showing all the double-crossing and betrayls. Muhaha!
