I just got my new Desert Locust goggles a few days ago, and after trying them on, they seem a bit tight around the temples. I've tried adjusting the strap, or shifting it on my head, but to no avail. I ripped off the foam seal off an old pair of ski goggles, and placed that around the inside of my Desert Locusts and tried them on. This helped greatly.
My question is if permanently applying this foam seal to my Desert Locust goggles will make the ANSI rating null and void.
TL;DR Is it legal to put foam around the edge of my goggles to make them fit more comfortably?

The ANSI Z87.1 2003 rating is a rating of the lens's resistance to ballistic impact. Modifying the seal to your fave doesn't change that at all. But what you might have changed is how the goggles seal to your face. Take a look around all of the edges both between the new foam and your face and the new foam and the old edge and see if there are any gaps. If you can't check under your nose or on top of your temples in the mirror, have a friend/wife/girlfriend/trick-or-treater give it a look for you. If you have a gap that's anything more than pin prick, the goggles are probably a no-go. If not, I'd say you're set.
