Storyline
Operation: Firestorm 2011 Storyline
Operation: Firestorm 2011 After Action Report
Invasion Day: Plus Three
United States and South Korean forces were completely overwhelmed by the level of Chinese support for their North Korean comrades. Initial battlefield reports estimate that up to 800,000 People’s Liberation Army troops have been mobilized and are augmenting North Korean positions from Pyongyang, south towards the DMZ, along with seaboard installations along the Sea of Japan.
750th Maritime Assault Regiment of the People’s Liberation Army makes a stunning and successful seaboard landing into Jung-gu island in Incheon Province, South Korea. The international airport on the island is quickly overrun and secured by Chinese naval-marines.
Invasion Day: Plus Four
Two divisions of Chinese mechanized infantry, supported by North Korean artillery batteries begin moving into a position for an assault on the South Korean capital city, Seoul. Dubbed ‘the sprint to Seoul’ by international media, reserve elements of the South Korean army along with security forces begin to evacuate civilians from outlying areas of Gyeonggi Province, north of Seoul.
Republic of Korea forward observers report that several company sized elements of North Korean Special Operations forces, including the 75th Paratrooper and 105th Heavy Assault companies are operating ahead of southbound Chinese mechanized infantry. Forward operating bases and outposts outside Seo-gu, Incheon report heavy and mounting causalities.
Invasion Day: Plus Five
Batteries of M-1978 ‘Koksan’ begin to barrage Republic of Korea and American positions outside Dobong-gu. Large areas of civilian and commercial housing are set ablaze by heavy levels of artillery fire, hindering the efforts of civilian evacuations as well as several secondary explosions at ad-hoc South Korean and United States ammunition and supply dumps; including the joint operated Jeongjo Shock-Trauma hospital outside Nuwon-gu.
Chinese Type 91 IFV’s along with sizable amounts of North Korean Special Operations forces overrun several key American and South Korean outposts outside Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. Surviving elements of the United States 2nd Infantry Division retreat back towards Seoul under heavy fire.
