I've been in to Airsoft for about two to three years now, but refuse to call myself a "true" Airsofter because I have yet to play a single game that isn't in a friend's or my backyard. If anyone could point me towards a field near West Bloomfield or Detroit, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ;D

Since you are new, I will even link them for you: miairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=eventsmiairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=eventplanningmain

First, welcome to the forums. If you're looking for places to play in your area, I'd say Phoenix Tactical and Eastside for your CQB places and ATS or No Limits for outdoors. Also, if you have any questions, be sure to ask. Second, nobody will take you seriously here if you publicly display your equestriphilia (bronyism). Sorry, but we make mock-war, not fluffy little horses 'round these parts.

2 - Be polite to other members and leave thread moderation to the moderators. If you want to tell someone to do a search, you must also provide an answer to their question. If you cannot, then do not post on the topic. Brief responses only saying to do a search will be deleted on sight. "In before the lock," "this thread sucks," and similar boorish behavior will result in warnings (and then bans, as dictated by our usual policies). If you have a real problem with a post, don't get involved, just use the "report to mod" button and let the forum staff sort it out. 3 - Any racist/sexist/abusive language will be deleted by mods or cleverly edited to make you seem silly. So please avoid it. This includes language implying that homosexuality is bad, such as the use of "gay" or "fag" as insults. Note that this rule does not foreclose other punishments for such language, including warnings or summary bans if warranted. Bronies don't face the societal challenges that homosexuals do but you guys are out of line when you bash the new guy just for his user name. Psychosis, you get a warning for the notably hostile tone of your post. Dallas, you were successful enough in hiding your hostility behind helpful language that I'm not going to formally up your warning level, but you could stand to be nicer. Not welcome on MIA: People who scam airsofters or can't learn forum etiquette. Welcome on MIA: everyone else.

I have nothing against him publicly being a brony. I'm just saying that a lot of people here will give him grief and, inevitably, troll him over it. I'll be more clear about that next time.
Back on topic. What type of airsoft gun do you currently use? Do you have any load bearing gear (vest, plate carrier, chest rig, etc.)? This kind of information can help us get you started on a much more enjoyable airsoft "career."

I use a GI Silent death custom m4 with 10 mid-caps and 2 high-caps (more than i'll ever need in one game, I know) I have a surplus load bearing vest (Backpack:Tactical:Load Bearing GA 301-20--430 to be exact if that helps at all).

Seems pretty good to me. If you ever consider getting more into the sport, I would recommend upgrading the gun (Seems to me it's just a stock CM with a new RIS and a can) with say, a nice TBB and perhaps an RHOP mod for longer ranges and consistent accuraccy, but that's just me.
Gearwise, I personally prefer an actual rig than some surplus stuff with molle space for the sake of efficiency and personal taste. If you do choose to get some gear, most of us here would point you to Pantac and Flyye as they make some pretty high quality gear.
Some other stuff I would recommend you get are some gloves, because knuckle shots hurt like a motherfucker, some knee pads, because knee shots also hurt like a motherfucker as well as making it much more comfortable to play in an indoor field (Sliding and kneeling on concrete will break your knees eventually), and finally, some sort of hydration carrier. If you ever play outside or for long ops, you will always want one of these for the sake of being hydrated.
And welcome to da forums!

I have an ASGI Custom G4-A3, so I can say that's a great gun to use as a platform for future upgrades, internal and external. While that rig will do the job, you might want to consider upgrading to a Pantac or Flyye MOLLE plate carrier/rig like bobbunny said. The reason behind this is that you will undoubtedly find a style of rig or plate carrier that you like and still be able to customize it with whatever pouches you want, provided there's enough MOLLE space. Here are a few that most people recommend: www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_77&products_id=1494(This one is low profile, so it's really small) www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_77&products_id=1261(This one only comes in small and OD, so if you don't use green based camos or are of a smaller frame, pass on this one) www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_77&products_id=1963(Lightweight and very effective) www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_77&products_id=3176(I own one of these. You might want to get a cummerbund for this if you aren't going for a lightweight loadout) www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_77&products_id=3079(Some days, I wish I had gone with this instead. Has a "kangaroo " pouch to hold all your magazines) www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_77&products_id=2986(I see a good number of guys on the field using this) www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=7112(For juggernaut badasses, who carry tons of stuff)

Dallas, your first ASGI link is the same thing as your first Airsoft Smith link.
Bobbunny makes a good point on the knee pads. I've never been shot in the knees yet, so I can't comment on the pain, but kneeling on nails/rocks/BBs/other strewn debris does hurt like a motherfucker.
And welcome to the forums.

Dallas, your first ASGI link is the same thing as your first Airsoft Smith link. So it is! Fixed.

Regarding knee pads, Alta Superflex knee pads are great. www.skdtac.com/Alta-Superflex-Knee-Pads-p/alt.602.htmI own a pair in Coyote Brown and can honestly say that they are very comfortable. Unlike most knee pads, the Altas don't slide down your legs very much, if at all. Reason for that is because the bottom strap is meant to be seated above your calves which keeps them up and the bottom strap is made out of nylon so it doesn't stretch. The top strap is elastic though to allow flexibility. Aside from the straps, they have a nice thick padding for hard landings. The cap is very strong, attached to the padding via 6 brass rivets, and has a rubber non-slip coating. One of the coolest things about these knee pads is that they are used widely among Marine Force Recon guys and others in the military and law enforcement. Also, Alta Industries has been around since 1977 making gear for the professionals. In fact, the design of the Alta Superflex knee pads has been copied by many other companies. Anyways, for pricing I paid $27 shipped to my door and received them in 2 days.

So here's what i'm thinking of upgrading to: Plate carrier: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=9030Hydration carrier: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=1110 (plus the matching bladder) Gloves: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=9107Pads: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=6764 (plus the matching elbow pads) Admin pouch: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=2054And something to put on it, of course : www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=10817I already have a mask, a save phace voodoo, but I can't find the screws and even if I can, it's a bitch to get them in place. So if you know what kind of screws the save phace masks use and/or any tricks on how to get them in the right position, please let me know. If I can't screw the top piece back on, I'll get this: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=8646Yay for matching
