Operation Jackal went great. Attendance wasn't exactly what we were expecting but we got 50 players and both the Green and Tan teams we're fairly even.
Chrono went fairly quick until the Chronograph started giving inaccurate readings. Gimpalong and I tried to figure out the problem but we couldn't fix it so we just had to go by asking people what their FPS were, most people fell around the 20ft range. I'll see if I can't get Evike to take that Chrono back.
The game started at 2:00pm like we had planned with a blow of an air-horn. The game went well until about 5pm when communications between the Green team leadership and the Tan team leadership broke down so we had to call a ceasefire for an hour, simplify radio frequencies, both teams switched to one channel for their entire team listed of separate squad channels, which made everything a lot more simplified, we figured out our points and by 6 we went back out and played again. This second part of the game went great no problems.
Instead of having the ceasefire from 11:00pm until 2:00am, we went from 9:pm until 12:00 am so that people could leave, get food, come back and not have to spend hours looking for a place that was open. The night part of the game was epic. A lot of sneaking around, and suspense, Green team had captured a Tan team player and Tan was attacking in full force to liberate him.
Around 4:00am everyone started to drift off back towards the tents in the staging area and the game ended with tan being victorious.
Despite the minor issues we had with communication and a few instances with hit-calling, ( I never had a problem with it, I know my squad had 20+ confirmed kills on Tan and everyone of them called their hits) everyone enjoyed the game and wants another Operation Jackal hosted, I can't give an exact date but it will probably be around early October.
Every rule was followed with almost little debate, we had not problem with people breaking engagement distances, and as fair as I know everyone had full seal goggles. I will admit, in the first 30 minutes of the game I only had safety glasses because someone had apparently thought my goggles were his extra pair and picked them up before we started. As soon as he found me I put mine on and I was good to go. I wasn't too worried about it since in the beginning I wasn't on the front to much since I was Green Team Leader and I myself was an objective so I was more or less hanging back at Green HQ until I got my goggles.
For the first big game I have hosted, this went pretty well. The Weather was great, It cooled down later in the day so It wasn't too hot, we had nearly a full moon for the night op, mother nature worked with us this weekend. Yes some things went wrong but that stuff happens. It wasn't something that effected game play much. Still the best time I have had playing Airsoft. Now that we have all our stuff figured out, Operation Jackal II should be that little bit better.
Now for some pictures of green holding Command post Charlie
At some point during the night Tan had control of Charlie. I was never aware of it for some reason.
