Those of you with G&P AEG's, do you happen to notice that your gun likes to eat up batteries more than others you've owned before?
I only ask because I've been messing around with this new M4A1 I got in and the thing goes through batteries like Charlie Sheen goes through prostitutes.
I haven't done any sort of scientific testing yet, but the last couple times I charged up one of my 11vlt LiPo's I only got maybe 6 mags out of a charge before it died out.
There's a 50/50 chance it could be this battery as I'm gonna check some more tomorrow, but are G&P's known for having something different about them that makes them inefficient with batteries?
I'm no AEG expert, but I'm wondering what I can look at that might fix things.
Re-lubing the GB a little bit to make things smoother perhaps? Maybe swap out the motor?
Normally I don't tinker until something breaks, but I figure I may throw in an extra ASCU I have here in an attempt to get some better battery life out of things.

I only got maybe 6 mags out of a charge before it died Holy shit! What is the mAh rating on that battery? I get about 15 to 16 mags out of my 11.1V LiPo that is 1100mAh, with my KWA M4. Not immediately one mag after the other, but throughout a day of play. There's a 50/50 chance it could be this battery as I'm gonna check some more tomorrow Do you have a charger that will tell you how many mA you put into the battery and how much you took out, during a charge discharge cycle? Any time I question a battery, I run it through that test. Does the AEG sound right when you shoot it? You don't think the motor is adjusted too tight do you? Does the grip get unusually hot? Without a MOSFET you could be raping your trigger contacts too. Your gear shimming could be too tight also. Sorry if this is of no help, I have no experience with G&P's.

For the battery, I've prolly got the same or similar one as you. (FireFox 1100mAh 11vlt)
I'm guessing/hoping it's just the battery as I've got prolly 9 or 10 of them here that I've had going strong for about 3 years, and I think some of them are biting the dust.
I've got a Duratraxx ICE that I know definitely has some sort of feature like that on it so I'll have to check and write down the numbers when I go to recharge again.
As for the gun itself...There really isn't any absolutely disturbing sounds emanating from it, but there are a few quirks that have caught my ears.
The motor doesn't seem to be whining or screeching at all, but it feels like the magnets are weak as after I fire it a few times, I can feel the magnets trying to stop the motor from spinning and the resulting vibration in the pistol grip.
After firing, I can also hear what I'm pretty sure is the anti-reversal latch (Sound about right? I have nothing else to say) engaging the gears and locking into place.
I'm thinking I'm just gonna pop er' open, and just check things out for myself. Like I said, I usually let something break or let the trigger contacts fry before I do anything to the gun, but this is just annoying me.

If you can put in around 900-1000mA and get near that much out then the battery is fine.

I would definitely test the battery, or test the gun by using a different battery because I've owned several G&Ps and I haven't experienced any battery issues. However, I've never run a lipo on any of them. Only 9.6V 1600-2200 mAh batteries.

I'm gonna do some more tinkering with a couple different batteries today and see what happens, as well as drain out the suspicious battery and see what my charger does in recharging it.
Another issue that was suggested was a lack or torque in the motor itself. The gun chrono'd at about 415fps which I'm guessing may be a bit too much for the motor to fire at in a longer full auto bursts. I'm guessing a motor swap is the quickest fix.
Anyone have any suggestions for a higher torque motor that will get my by for a bit while remaining somewhat affordable?

Bit of a semi-update. Did some more tinkering and it's definitely the battery.
With the faulty battery, I plug it in and then hold the trigger down on full auto until the battery stops. It usually lasts about 4-5 seconds. Oddly enough I can then plug it back in and it will do the same thing all over again. So whatever the problem is, it just seems the battery just can't sustain a constant discharge/draw on from itself for more than a few seconds before needing a rest.
With another battery, it's all good.
Thanks for all the suggestions gents. I'm still gonna look into these new motors since I just don't like the way this one reacts with that delay after I let off the trigger.

The reasons they eat batteries are:
1. They come with a high speed motor 2. They come heavily over-shimmed.

The reasons they eat batteries are: 2. They come heavily over-shimmed. Thats what I was gonna go with. My G&P M16 came way over shimmed. Nothing G&P's Precision Shims cant fix.

Am I the only one that finds it a tad bit ironic that you can use THEIR shims, to properly shim THEIR gun? Kind of makes you wonder.

It's all about $$$, how much they don't have to spend on guns, how much the can make off upgrades, etc. I'm still waiting for a good, stand-up, honest company that makes good products and doesn't charge an arm and a leg for them.
