Im new to gas pistols and I understand that you shouldnt store your mags filled with gas for a long period of time. Should I press the gas release valve or should I shoot the gas out?

Shoot it out. Also, from what I hear you should store it with gas in it. Helps keep the orings lubed.

Store the mag with gas in it. And no, if you need to empty the mag, do not purge it manually. You can freeze and crack the o-rings or gas route packing. Dry fire it in the gun or load up some round and do some target practice.
