Spring 1986 - East Germany
Four KGB squads were dispatched to the Berlin wall after Eastern Bloc leaders were informed that there was a possible "gold train" being ferried through Western Germany.
Two Squads returned reporting that there was indeed a heavily guarded area west of Berlin with an unknown commodity being ferried through the area. Intel was unable determine what that commodity was however.
The Soviet Leaders, sick of the Cold War stalemate and the rapidly depleting economy sanctioned an attempt at the possible gold train. They proceeded to drop several KGB Teams in an attempt to infiltrate the area and set up Operations to take control of the convoy as it was moved out of Berlin.
Early Summer 1986 - West Berlin
The Allies in West Berlin witnessed an increasing Soviet Military presence near Checkpoint Charlie of the Berlin Wall. However, despite conflicting reports of KGB presence, nothing has been done to stop their crossing.
Intel trickled down from various sources of large squadrons of Mi-24 Hind Gunships and T-72 tanks amassing behind the wall. It was decided to lock down the west side of the Berlin Wall in protest of the increased arms by the Soviets. In response the Allied forces increased their presence in West Berlin.
Late Summer 1986 - In the forests west of Berlin
With a KGB forward base secured, the KGB began its reconnaissance of all potential supply lines for the elusive “gold train” with many convoys reporting small incidents and some supplies going missing.
Allied command chalked these reports up to starving and desperate civilians.
All of this changed at the beginning of August 1986...
