Hey everyone!
I just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking around these forms for a couple weeks. My name is Matt, I'm 25 and currently living in Chesterfield. A friend of mine recently got me interested in airsoft a few weeks ago and I have been doing my homework since then. He led me to this site and I have been trying to read through everything I can.
As of now I have ordered an Echo 1 AK 47 tactical with a 5 mag pack and some BB's. I did some research before I bought this gun, but would welcome any thoughts, reviews, or suggestions on whether I made an appropriate choice! I also already own woodland and desert BDUs. I would like to add some load bearing gear too but I will probably wait until I get more into playing.
I will probably be looking to play my first game at the next No Limits rec game, unless something else comes up that I can make it too.
Thanks for letting me introduce myself and I look forward to reading any comments/welcomes/whatever!

First off, welcome! Echo1 is a great entry level brand, in my opinion they make a very solid, reliable airsoft gun. As for gear depending on what you're planning on doing as far as loadouts/impressions go tailor it to fit you. I'm sure guys on here can fill you in on more detailed gear/vests. Phoenix airsoft north in warren, and south in clinton township are great indoor fields plus north offers an outdoor field. Eastside airsoft is also an indoor field about a mile from phoenix south. Lastly good luck! Hope to see you out and active on the forums!

As above, welcome to the forums! Hope you have a great stay. Echo 1 does make a fairly good gun, and AK's are always dandy, even if they're a little over used. Extra mags are always good for any game. Quick question though, what kind of BB's did you buy? Weight and brand. As for load bearing gear, you can't go wrong for a low price crossdraw vest (Under $20). However, military surplus works well too. Check the commerce section if you want to get some great gear at a lower price. A quick tip on gear. Make sure you have a nice pair of gloves and knee pads. Getting shot in those areas are not fun (especially the hand). Plus, kneeling on hard surfaces is a lot easier with those. As for protection, most people generally would recommend full face protection, and I would too. You can't go wrong for a nice pair of ESS NVG's or Flakjaks for around $20 and one of these (Favorite here): www.evike.com/product_info.php?cPath=30_744&products_id=33666Chesterfield seems really close to the Clinton Township. There are actually a lot of field in that area that Coldwave already named.

I'm pretty sure I know who this is. Welcome to the boards; looking forward to slinging plastic with you soon. SK's running another game at the end of June at No Limits, hopefully. You probably want to invest in a decent pair of goggles (again, if this is who I think it is, the snowboard goggles are ANSI appropriate, but you don't want to ruin them and you will). Check these out: www.botachtactical.com/box1tago.html-or- www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=3891Again, welcome, bro.

Welcome, it's awesome to see new players who have taken the time to do some research before they jump in! The nice thing about starting off at a rec game is, you don't have to have a full setup to play. You can run the bare essentials (which it sounds like you have), and then check out some other players gear to find out what you like and don't like. Most players are very proud of their set ups, and love to show them off. Goggles, and some sort of face cover( at the minimum a shemagh or bandana) are the only things I didn't see you mention, that you would need to play at No Limits. So once again, Welcome, looking forward to getting to sling some plastic with another Misfits fan. As for load bearing gear, you can't go wrong for a low price crossdraw vest (Under $20). However, military surplus works well too. Check the commerce section if you want to get some great gear at a lower price. I know you're trying to help bobunny, but please don't suggest crossdraws. Even if it's only $20, that money could be spent on a better rig that could actually be useful.

I wrote all about a thread against Crossdraws Pagan XD
However, I personally believe that for a small price (Under $20. Probably more or less 10 would be a true price), it would be a good set up if you do not use the pistol holster and use the usual extra 3 mags. They should be able to hold AK Mags just fine. Reason being, unless you really want to get serious or go to more specific events, just a simple crossdraw will get you by any smaller game.
REC games only need a high cap for the record to really play. (In my experience)

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
I'll be waiting to upgrade my gear from basic BDU until I see what some other guys are running in person, theres just too much to choose from right now, and all of it is just pictures to me.
I am interested in getting to some of the indoor games, however I believe the echo 1 I ordered shoots too hot for these, correct me if there is something I can do to get around that, I haven't looked into FPS modification. I was simply planning on buying an indoor gun sometime in the future, but thought I would get my feet wet in an outdoor rec game first.
Safety equipment is next on my list of things to get, I am still looking at my options. I appreciate the links a few of you threw up!
Kevin, I was trying to find you on here but didn't even recognize that pic of you! Appreciate all the help you've been giving me and I'll be over when my gun comes in for you to inspect, than we can get down to weathering/painting it!
Bobb, i ordered Airsoft GI G4 Airsoft 0.20g BBs (White) 1kg Bag Not sure how good these BB's are, I assumed for the price I couldn't go wrong, and I'll pick up something else, any recommendations are appreciated!
Once again thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to my first game!

That should be good for most games. If you play some more outdoor games or something like that, I would recommend .25s.
FPS modification is mainly just a spring. You should probably change it out for an M90 to play indoor, just to be sure.

Not to mention, entry level Chinese brands tend to last a heck of a lot longer when you downgrade them from the high FPS that they come with stock. The increased stress from high FPS in comparison to lower FPS performance leads to premature failures in the gearbox.
