Operation Fueling The Fire II

Starting out the day with shitty rain. Boots and what not got all muddy but airsoft continued. Wearing my PMC loadout we arrived abit later and were expecting to be on the tan (M.A.D.) team but lost track of where they went when chronoing our guns. We just said screw it and ended up being on the green (N.A.D.I.A.) team. For the first half of the game there was a lot of taking and re-taking key areas of the playing field. Fighting against the tan team i only had one problem where a player did not call himself out after i shot him. One tan member did try to bang kill me but was still a good sport when i shot him and explained that bang kills aren't allowed. Nearing the end of the first half the green team had pushed the tan all the way back to their base. Thats when you could hear a lot of people screaming "call your hits!" i just figured the tan were desperate. During lunch break one of the game wardens put my and my friend wearing similar colors on the tan team who seemed annoyed with how the game had been going. Within ten minutes of playing in the second half on the tan team, the green team had gotten around to one of our sides and began spawn camping in the woods off to the side of our base, which is apparently legal. I managed to sneak around to a path behind them, i saw one of their hit players with his hand up walking back towards their spawn as well as two more of them walking along the trail. I popped on and fired burst shots, hitting both of them at least 3 times. Unfortunatly they just turned and ran behind cover, while their team member who was out quickly put his hands down, grabbed his gun and started firing at me, pretending he didnt get out. I reported this to a ref but nothing got done about it. At respawn there were green member camping in the woods off to the side of our base, as soon as we respawned back in, myself and 2 other guys opened fire on a group of them out in sight not hiding behind any cover and apparently missed every single shot. I then tagged along with a squad trying to retake a key area close to our base. There was heavy resistance there and i ran right up to the front lines. Popping around the corner and engaging the green team in close quarters, SniperWolf and I capped a green guy in his glasses and forehead, even seeing him flinch from the hits he did not call himself out, the same thing happened again with 2 people coming up the hill off to our side. Unfortunately their were no refs around which was odd considering that was where most of the action was. When they finally showed up and we explained the problem to them they just said they'd watch the green team. Some refs were even walking away while we were talking to them. Realizing why tan was so frustrated during the break i myself became frustrated that we had been pushed back into our base by green team who was camping by our base shooting at people who respawned, not calling their hits, and refs ignoring our cries for help; myself and a whole squad ended up leaving early.

The event was fun at first, but seeing a lot of stuff go down after i switched to the team that was losing in the first half, I realized why they were so pissed off with the game.

My suggestions for this field in the future,
Put boundary lines near bases that opposing teams cannot cross, where the buttfuck are we suppose to spawn if they just so happen to capture a base.
Build more barriers and defences along the trails near the tan base.
Find more competent refs that dont walk away from players who have a complaint and are where the action is taking place, not wandering around the field.

While it was fun to play with some friends and more honorable people on the green team at first. The tan team deserves Katt's Medal of Honor, considering I myself only had one incident where one guy did not call himself out.

People on the green team, cmon, its just a game. Take your hits, especially if your caught flinching from them.

Can we all just agree that there were bad apples on both teams did not call their hits and move on to more constructive things about the game? I can see this very quickly turning in to an argument about which team called their hits less.

Im simply giving my input, having been me and my friend the only people there who played on both teams due to our PMC look. So that kinda gives me the right to judge on how each team performed. All im saying is green team had way more bad apples than tan might have.
Having played against tan for the first half of the game, only had one problem where a player didnt call his hits. While playing against the green team, near most of my encounters with them were against players not calling their hits. There was 7 of them that i can remember. I understand there are more honorable players on the green team. But having to go back to spawn continuously cause some guy shoots me after i burst shot him first, annoyed the hell out of me within the first hour of playing against green.

Let me start off by saying that I had a lot of fun.

First off as my team knows it was awesome rolling with you guys and it was great to put into practice the "buddy system" and our new hand signal! No one else gets this, but these are memories for life guys!

Second I would like to thank all the multicam guys who took part in "Deep Penetration" (credit: DeathDealer) where we flanked all the way around the right side to come out behind green spawn and move up through the spawn and behind all those guys. Falling on my face after tripping over that branch was totally worth it.

Also, thanks to the green sniper who called himself out when we entered his engagement distance. Although technically required hardly anyone would have the honesty do to that. Kudos!

Also I have to give a big shout out to Sparrow. Sparrow lead us on another far left flank where we came up behind the octagon (pentagon, whatever it is). I've always wanted to have that moment where I say "On my mark... Mark" and all the shit hits the fan. You guys made this possible ;D I'm so depressed, I didn't have the waterproof door for the helmet camera today.

Now onto all of the things that annoyed the hell out of me...

First, at registration I was asked do you have your receipt of paypal? I almost wanted to laugh considering all of the epic failures that had occurred, but I asked "No. Was it on the forum?" Tino responded "Yes" I asked "MIA or Kalamazoo" "Both" Tino replied. Yeah... just checked the first page and at least the next 15 pages, go figure not a single word about needing a receipt.

I was going to go into detail about every little thing, but this is a waste. Everyone knows how poorly organized this was. Tino had nearly no involvement from what I can tell, and puggy I give you props for trying but one man can't do everything. This was by far the most poorly organized event that I have ever been to. The guy at the chrono didn't even know MIA standard limits!!! Seriously!?! This isn't a personal attack on him. It's just that if the guy doesn't know. Give him a frekin' cheat sheet or something! Before someone starts throwing around excuses. I would like to point out that there are other hosts that have hosted as large or larger events that have been much better organized. Hellfish (Persian Winter, Global Betrayal) and SFOD (Blood Dynasty I and II, list goes on) are just a few that come to mind. If you're not in it 100% then make damn sure that you have enough resources to replace you. It's your reputation on the line.

To the owner of the field. I don't know exactly how to express how I feel about your statement regarding all of the profits going to charity. It's just awesome that there are decent people out there who care about the community. Your field is just awesome and I had a blast. Although the comment about "The Last Bastion of Honor" came off a little... I don't know. Anyway, thanks a lot for letting us utilize your excellent field. Your hard work has not gone unappreciated.

I had fun, no doubt about that, it was good to get back in the game with the rest of Team RAGE.

That being said, I don't think this game could really be considered MILSIM, at best I would classify it as a loosely based scenario game. When the CO of NADIA is a guy with a Darth Vader helmet, and a yellow plastic Nerf Gun, it makes the gameplay seem a little less... MILSIM. Though I think both teams did their best to try and complete objectives, and create a game environment that could count as scenario based.

As far as hit calling and what not, it's something that I've grown to be accustomed to the last eight years of playing, especially since I use a long rifle. A lot of times I can see my BB hit a target, usually further than 60m away, and since the target player doesn't see where the shooter is, the hit isn't called. This can be frustrating at times, but I usually try and give the benefit of the doubt, and let it go. Most of my concern about the game is that it was labeled as a MILSIM, and it played out like a REC/Scenario. I think that the refs and game staff did a terrific job with organizing the game and getting it going, even with the in-climate weather. So hats of to Tino, Puggy, and the rest of the game staff.

The only complaint with the game staff was at the end of the day, and I didn't experience first person, but my teammate Livonia was ejected for shooting a player that claimed to be already hit, but lacked a kill rag, and did not have his weapon or hands in the air. This was quickly resolved by another group of refs, and the game went on.

Hit calling is usually a problem at any event, sometimes less, sometimes more. I only had a few encounters with blatant cheating, which was mostly when I either had the drop on somebody pieing a corner, and hitting a player who comes around and shoots back but doesn't take his hit. This gets frustrating, but life goes on, and like I said earlier, the benefit of the doubt is always given.

Overall I had fun, but my gripes with the game not really being MILSIM, and that fact that the objectives were mostly based around "Your command is sending you into this AO, but they don't know why, and you are to just take buildings and look for a cure to this virus." This get's kind of old, I don't think it was a fault of the organizers, it could have worked I think if the objectives were a little more dynamic, and if there were constantly new objectives. But usually objectives didn't get relayed quickly enough, or just not very often.

I do want to commend the role players, the women that was actually gardening in the village, that was legit, so hats off to you, and the rest of the role players.

While there was bad blood on both teams, my major annoyance was the refs inability to do anything about it. All they'd tell us was that theyd watch the person we were talking about. But seriously, how many complaints does a player get before any action is taken against him?

This battle was a lot of fun. The weather was awful at the beginning but besides the mud the temperature was really great. AND NO WIND!! This was my first time at this field and I liked how some of the set ups were. Great for attacking and defending. It would have been very helpful to have had a map though. I was on green team and was frequently being ordered places that I had no idea where they were. Almost every milsim I've been to provides maps except this one. There was definitely some issues with calling hits. I was using a dmr and I shot a tan player and both me and my squadmate both clearly hear the "Whap!" of the bb striking him. He turned and looked at the area he thought the bb came from, turned back and returned to firing at one of the bases. And trust me, he was not the only one. There was definitely issues on both teams, I called several of my team mates out. But really, this is expected. I think especially at the end tans frustration probably played into this. Overall the the battle was still great. Better boundaries and spawning positions would help a lot, but the event was to have fun. And I really did have a lot of fun

There were times i thought i was hit but it turned out just to be a drop of water. The reverse situation could have happened with some other players.

Just a personal gripe with me, I saw a lot of kids (And grown men alike) running around with actual military insignias on collars and in appropriate places, I have to say this is where you're crossing the line from pretending to impersonating. Also same thing with actual patches of real military groups/awards (I.E: Ranger Tabs / Special Forces Tabs), it's not my field so I wasn't going to start getting into anyone for it and causing a problem, but you guys know who you are, and you should probably take those devices off and just enjoy the game for what it was.

On a light(er) note: The game as far timelines go seemed pretty close on actual time, I figured that the whole Paypal thing wouldn't have been an issue, my only real comment on that would be if a player is willing to prepay and put the extra money in your pocket as far in advance as the game was posted up, it doesn't hurt to just create a master roster of pre-paid people and it's as simple as a check in the box, avoid people having to pull out cell phones in the middle of the rain and extra wasted down time, and more efficiency could have been gained and we could have possibly had a faster start time.

Seemed like the field owners knew what they were doing, but again the whole lack of MILSIM seemed pretty prominent not more than 20 minutes from the start time, and all professionalism was lost. I get that you want to maintain secrecy and everything, but at the same time giving the mission and details 5 minutes before game time seems comical, and if that had anything to do with the military and you were an LT telling me about a mission 5 minutes prior, I'd tell you to screw yourself and walk away.

Green Team, you boys did some good work. Sucks that I've been out of the game so long I was meeting all of you for the first time, but definitely glad I met most of you and hope to sling bb's with you fellas in the future. Definitely a nice welcome home airsoft game.

I was just about to make that comment about the water. Those trees were dripping some monster drops! I myself an fairly certain I called myself out due to a rain drop to the helmet once. This was my first tone playing with a helmet, I'm usually in a boonie, that coupled with the first time playing in real rain, made it difficult to gage non-hits for a while. My only instance of someone that was potentially not going to call a hit was avoided by me putting three more rounds to his chest. He stopped and turned in my direction and looked around to try to figure out where it came from (this was the first shot taken after X said mark), he waited too long so I followed it up with reassurance.

I can't comment much on the whole milsim vs scenario, since our fire team was involved in flanking all day. We had to move from the normal channels since there was just too much rog, calling, and constant leaning on the ptt on the team channels. Because of that we were cut off from most of the objective assignments, but we were able to halt advances on our spawn in the morning. Tan side, by the way. We had to split after lunch due to other obligations, but we had a great time despite the miserable weather. The field was great.

We had a big blast as this was our first "MilSim". I thought that the objectives were a bit confusing and redundant. When ever we had to go take a church or get a priest , we all knew we would need to grab a different priest or take a different church in the end.

Another great and fun event, even though I couldn't play. I had fun spectating the game, I hope to get out to play here shortly. From what I've seen everyone was having fun. Great game to both sides and hope to see you guys out there soon!

I also was not impressed with the Refs. I actually had to explain the respawn system to our ref as he was putting us in groups when we came in and counting down 15 minutes for each group.

I had a lot of fun charging at the green team most of the day and leading assaults and flanks over by the neutral zone. Early in the day Blackjack, AFO Wolfpack, myself, and a few others managed to push green back and capturing the black star shaped building in front of green spawn. After everyone died except Blackjack and I, we held them off for a particularly long time until I was finally shot through a hole.

Can't believe just after lunch when the green team was hold up in there and surrounding it that I managed to clear the south side and sneak around to the back before getting lit up by at least 4 players. About 3 seconds after I called hit two more of them apparently had to shoot me again for some odd reason (hand was up, gun was down) I just said "really?" And started walking back to spawn, at least one of them asked if I was ok, thanks for that, it was good sportsmanship.

On my way back to spawn, just after I got past the neutral zone, some green guy started lighting me up. I think whoever it was must have been confused because I had my gun resting on my belt with the barrel pointing up, I was walking nonchalantly with my head down fiddling with my vest headed away from your team in the wide open. Call me crazy, but I think I could tell if someone doing that was out.

But anyways, X I almost lost it when you bit the dust on those branches. My first instinct was if you were ok, but then I had to choke back the tears of laughter.

Yeah in my opinion i think its disrespect towards actual military personel with those ranks. Even if you are military personel playing airsoft you still shouldnt wear it during a game. Just my opinion. I use to play with this team that would give out ranks based on how many kills you got. X.x
