Hey guys,I just picked up some Marpat today "Propper international" and it has the little Marines logo here and there so I guess they are real. My question is, arent they supposed to have the drawstrings at the ankles? These dont. Never had Camo without them before so its kinda strange to me.

The drawstrings are really only for if you're going to blouse your pants into your boots, otherwise you don't really need them.

I always bloused em with my other camo's it was just odd seeing these didnt have them. I considered sewing in some. My old Marpat "true spec" were disgusting looking once I was near others with good kind,I have nothing else to say.. They had way too much green in them and looked nice by themselves but next to the others.. NOT EVEN CLOSE,haha.. I felt like and idiot wearing them so I gave them to a buddy. These ones look just like everyone elses. And with the little logo's here and there in the camo pattern made me think they are genuine Marpat. They even had a repair slip for when the guy had his M16 worked on.

USMC camo doesn't have the drawstrings we have to use bootblousers to blouse, I don't know if they are real or not considering our issue cammies don't say propper anywhere on them but who know.

YOUR cammies aren't made by Propper. There are several companies that make cammies for the Marine Corps, Propper International is one of them. I have several cammies made by Propper and American Apparel Inc. Ranger, your cammies are definitely the real MCCUU. The drawstrings were a feature of BDUs, most other types of cammies don't have them.

Loctus, Sunshine is currently in the USMC.
I would think his are fairly official as well.

Pagan,
What Locutus is saying is that there are multiple MARPAT manufacturers. So while American Apparel makes some with their label (my set are AA), Propper also makes issue MARPAT with their label (FWIW, the labels almost identical, except for where the brand name appears). Sunshine probably has AA MARPATs, but they're not the only ones out there.
Also, given Locutus's avatar, I'm inclined to think that he might also be a Marine. At the very least, he might be a Marine enthusiast who has done the research.

No problem, I must have misread this: YOUR cammies aren't made by Propper. There are several companies that make cammies for the Marine Corps, Propper International is one of them. I think you're reading that wrong. He's saying that they're real and made by somebody other than Propper. He's not saying that if they're not made by Propper then they're not real.

This all reads like a bad sitcom.

Just for the sake of completeness, I took a look at my issue Desert MARPATs, and they have a tag identical to the one in Ranger's picture. Not that it was still up for debate or anything, but one more piece of evidence to round out the picture.

Sorry, didn't mean to start that!
Knief, that is what I meant, and I am indeed a Marine.
