I've been going to Eastside Airsoft every weekend for months. There's no credence behind any of the negative arguments here.
Eastside is a great place with great people. It might not be flashy, but it's reasonable, full of excellent people and players, and offers a lot of experience for veteran slingers and newcomers alike.
I've been at the wrong end of spawn camping there. However, we were able to rally the team and push back. It's not impossible, but it is part of the game.
They know myself and my group quite well, yet I've never been allowed on to the field with a weapon over 350. I witnessed my teammate turned away when he was just 10 FPS over.
Furthermore, about the comments regarding the owner and staff: Perhaps it's all perspective? Maybe they seem uncouth simply because some players are so incredibly pretentious about their experience that they can't be bothered to simply play the game, but rather have to guarantee that their experience is as posh and controlled as possible.
My team has gone up against the owner's "little hand-selected team" and we've won. Several times. It sounds to me like the problem isn't that the staff is good (which they are, props to RFA), but rather that there are some individuals who aren't up to the task of practicing, or even accepting a loss with grace.
To address the "too competitive" argument, all I can truly say is: Really?
Airsoft is competition. It takes guts, skill, time, and talent to become a good teammate/shot/player. If someone can't handle a bit of taunting or some banter on the battlefield, go play laser tag.
Overall, Eastside is a working man's airsoft field. If you want to go have a fun time in an affordable facility with fun people who know how to have a good time and recognize the value of mutual respect, Eastside is the place for you.
If you're afraid of getting too many welts or that your gun is going to get dirty, there's some nerf guns at the dollar store down the street.

Wizardbdh,
Great first post. Please stay on MiA. Too many kids with c-mags on M4's and arrogant 12 year olds, and not enough new people like you.

I've been to Eastside several times and have had a great time each outing. RFA staff is all pretty cool and the games ran smoothly. They dealt with whiny immature players as needed, by telling them to buck up and stop being a pussy.

Much appreciated, Zulu. My team is just starting to grow and get better after a lot of practice and rec games. It just galls me a bit to see people complaining about a group of good people who enjoy the activity as it's meant to be enjoyed: fast and fun. Not just out there to make a quick buck or have a "my gear is better than yours"contest.

I love Eastside and have no issue with anything mentioned. Also they just moved into their new building a few months ago after scrambling to find a new location after they were thrown out. Kurt is very experienced as a tech and all the times I have been there players have been kind and the RFA members were great Ref's and when Kurt played it's always fun to shoot him. He's a nice guy. All the "Ripoffs" on the wall are the same at almost every store save a few. It's a great field and I will continue to go there. Also every time I went there they took my gun and chronoed it with their own ammo and then tagged you to make sure everything was under the limit. Never had any issue with full auto you most likely were being hit by multiple players or a fast trigger finger.

East Side Airsoft has my support 100% I've been going there since they started.
As someone has mentioned before, you really can't fully trust the opinion of someone who has only been there once and signed up to MIA just to give a negative review especially when a new rival field just opened up in the same area. They may not and are probably not connected but the timing is a little suspect.

Arc I personal take offense to you assuming I would do something like this to self promote. I do quite well without going on here and bashing another field. I opened a field over there because my field is full every weekend and I have a large group of people from that area that play and asked me to open a field over there. Arc I never had a problem with you and I think your an ok guy but I suggest you man up next time and ask me if I did something before you accuse someone of doing something.

It's not a knock on you jay and I apologize if you took it that way and I could see why. I should have made it more clear that its known that there are players that are loyal to certain fields whether its yours or kurts or farmington or roseville shelby twp or the one in kzoo and there's an un-said rivalry going on that players do pick up on.
You'll probably never see RFA at phoenix or the phoenix guys at farmington or hunter at eastside and there's nothing wrong with that since it's a matter of personal preference and geography but it doesn't mean that there isn't any kind of tension due to those loyalties.
And as I mentioned, its probably not connected but its a little suspect due to the timing of the opening of the other field in warren as well as the other field in roseville Shelby twp which is in the same area.

Arc, I think you're over-thinking this. I am sure some of the RFA guys would play at phoenix and some of the phoenix guys would play at other fields. I've been with Jay since the beginning, but this doesn't mean I won't help out other fields in Michigan. And, just to say, Jay doesn't really need to bash other fields - last time I was at Phoenix I think there was around 50 kiddies playing. Now, there are a bunch of kiddies who are "fan-boys", but like any obnoxious 12 year old, they need to be ignored.

Yeah those fan boys are the guys I'm talking about and I have a feeling the guys that started this thread would fall right into that category.

Wow. This thread reminds me of myself........
Anyway, yeah Eastside is amazing. I've been there three times, with a fourth coming up this Saturday, and the only problem I have had at all was the owner's kid's MP5, that gun could not be in the 350 FPS limit, as it gave me a mark that stayed there for a month, and made my friend bleed.
The prices to me really aren't that bad, as I have bought a dump pouch from them for the same price as one of a lesser brand online. I saw that you could also get a tri-shot shotgun for LESS than online!

Just because you got a mark that was there for a long time and someone else was bleeding doesn't mean it wasn't under 350. I have plenty of permanent scars and have received many hits that have caused me to bleed by guns that were easily under the limit. Last time I bled my friend's gun chronoed at ~345 with .2g bbs, when he uses .25g his gun will chrono around 310-320 and had still caused wounds like you are describing from 25+ feet away.

I'm pretty sure Logan and Kurt run heavier BB's. This brings their guns under the limit I bet, (as helmet said above) but a heavier BB will hit harder. F=MA and all.

I've been to Eastside once, and was a little disappointed. I just didn't care for the field design. That's really my only complaint. I only buy my stuff online, but I'm sure a storefront is going to be more expensive, but it makes up for the lack of wait time, and that can be hell. The staff (or what i assume is the staff, when everyone's all tacticool it can be a little hard to tell, but I'm assuming the guy who chronoed my gun was staff) was professional, even though it was chaotic.
Basically, i traveled close to an hour expecting another Farmington or MTAC, but was disappointed in the field design. Other than that, no complaints.
