I'm a newbie looking to really get into Airsoft. I usually play backyard games with my friends but I've been to Pheonix Outdoor twice so far. It's been a lot of fun but I'm sick of getting my friends shitty guns, so I want to invest in a gun of my own. I really like the look of the AK-47 and i've been looking online on SHORTY USA looking for a gun and I've found this one that I really like the look of. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=3941(Shorty USA links are messed up) I'm just wondering what are your guy's thoughts on the gun, or do you have any other suggestions for me since you all know a lot more than I do. Thanks, and have a nice day!

First of all don't buy off of shorty USA. From what I hear the red-star line is pretty good but it is just a re-brand of a dboys gun(correct me if I'm wrong). Basically the gun will be fine for what your using it for.

What other website would you suggest for purchasing?
I'd be the using the gun for outdoor games only. No CQB.

Airsoft GI, Evike, Airsoft Atlanta, or even this boards commerce section. If I remember correctly there were a few tact. ak's for sale on here too.

First of all don't buy off of shorty USA. ^^Agreed. Sights101, I am also pretty sure that the Red-Star line is a re-brand or the Dboys AK line. I owned Dboys AK-74 and I loved it. The only issue that I had with it is the wiring. The wires must of short-circuited or something, which caused my battery to literally melt. Other than that, I give the Dboys line of AK's a thumbs up. I am not sure how the Red-Star line is; but, they should perform close to how Dboys AK's perform.

Get the Red Star AKM, looks better than the tactical and it's a hard hitter.

IMO anything looks better than a tact. AK. Basically just find a gun or 2 that you think look good then we can tell you which is internally better but try to do some research on your own. This community is here to help member but not to spoon feed them info.

The Red Star is a rebranded CYMA CM048M, not a Dboys.
Edit: Forgot the M, the CM048 is the 74.

If you don't mind a little internal work, CYMAs are some good, cheap project guns. I've helped out on a few, and they really are worth it if you put money into it. I plan on getting myself an AK-74M after I get all the essentials and upgrading it. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4006
