Alright, so I painted my M4, and I like the battle worn look, so I used a pad, similar to scotch brite, and rubbed some of the gun. Paint didn't come off as expected. What are some of the ways you guys make your guns look used/worn? I heard nailpolish remover works, but I don't know if I have any. Suggestions?

For artificial wear, I used steel wool. Since you just painted it, put some gloves on and just play with it. That should give it some natural wear, also.

Best way to get a worn look... Use the gun. Play with it on a daily basis as well. I've used some stripping pads you can get at paint/hardware stores as well to achieve the look.

If your gun isn't black, throw/smudge/smear/dab some black paint on it, and use sandpaper/steel wool to wear out all of the metal parts. I have a thread up in the gallery where I did this technique.

Paint it. Then carry it around he house over the course of a weekend tactically clearing the house when no one is home, because, "Why the hell not!?" And yer bored. Going to an event after fresh paint is always a feasable option. The best way to get a worn look is to paint it, don't put a clear coat on it, and just use it at an event. Get it dirty naturally.
