Most common? Probably non-bio .20-.25, I use .28's though, help with wind and cutting through brush.

There is a common type, but only because of the common FPS used. Don't buy a bb weight due only to what others use. Take a look at what FPS you're at or what you think you are probably at, and then choose from there. For instance, I'm shooting about 405fps, so I use 0.28's because they stabilize a tad better than 0.25's do. For someone shooting 360 or 370, they can get away with 0.25's because the bb will stabilize more quickly at that slightly decreased speed, and they get the added bonus of the fact that their bb will arrive at their target slightly faster than a heavier bb would (F=ma).

If you want the best accuracy, use .30s for anything up to 400fps (1.5 joules, roughly). Anything over that, and you should be using .36s as a minimum.

Sorry this is a slightly old thread, but a question that I have had for a while, and I think may be common, relates to this post.
When you say things such as "with anything up to 400fps, use .30's." Do you mean it shoots 400fps with the .30's or 400fps with the standard .20's? For example, My G&P M4 shoots at about 440fps with .2's Does this mean I should use .38's according to your guide?
Sorry if it is a stupid question!

When someone gives an fps value, you should always assume they mean your FPS with whatever bb is used as the measuring stick. In our case, we use .20's. Some states use .25's. So unless someone specifies that they are shooting X FPS with X weight bb's, it's going to be whatever the baseline is for chronographing.

Allstajacket,
Just an FYI, but if you want to participate in any MiA events, you'll need to tune that gun down below 400 FPS or convert it to permanent semi auto only.
And yes, when we talk about what FPS a gun shoots, we're always talking about what it shoots using .20g bbs unless otherwise stated.

Also, after conducting countless tests and evil experiments, I have finally found the 2 most accurate bb sets. G&G .28 Bio And Matrix .2 ~ .25 Tracer BB. (Yes... yes I know..) But it's true. Try them out, you will all be amazed beyond words.

Try them out, you will all be amazed beyond words. The problem I have with this post is the idea that there is one bb that will perform best in all guns across the board. That's simply not the case. Many places regard bioval .27g bbmax bbs as the best bb you can buy, however I've heard many people saying they didn't feed right in their guns due to them being slightly smaller in diameter. I've heard many others (including myself) raving about Bioshot bbs, however when I had my KWA it HATED those darn things, and never shot right with them. Throw in KWA/KSC bbs though and it shot like a dream. IMO there is no one perfect bb. You should tune your gun the way you like it then figure out what bb works best for that particular set up.
