Very true. I've never disliked the idea of upgrading a gun out of the box. I just like to get guns that have sturdy externals and at least decent internals. But your post definitely is food for thought.
And twinkie, I would focus more on getting the G&G CM M4 and gear before you start looking at other guns. Unless you're all set on what you want to get.

Just a question; are you planning on getting a helmet or any sort of head protection? If you're not I won't bother loading you down with suggestions, just here to help.

Make sure to research your face mask. Nothing is worst than fogging up mid game.

Make sure to research your face mask. Nothing is worst than fogging up mid game. You got that right! Personally, I went from painball masks to goggles and I'm never going back. For actual face protection, I use a neoprene facemask (basically a 1.5mm(?) thick balaclava) underneath my goggles and I wear it with a helmet or hat. I like having the ability to aim down sights better than having a bulky mask. Aside from face masks, I'd also look into goggles, twinkie.

I was gonna say the same thing. If your dead set on a facemask though, just make sure you get a good one.

If you want a good mask that doesn't fog, the basic tippman mask works perfect. I have not once had it fog up on me(knock on wood). Aiming down sights is a problem with masks though.

I had a good tippman mask before and it never fogged up, same with my JT one. They're definitely good for protecting your cheeks, ears, etc. if you're worried about getting hit there.

Not unless you wear goggles over the mask. Mesh masks are not allowed as there is still a chance small pieces of broken plastic could get lodged in your eyes.
