Back Story:
Libya: On 15 February 2011 as a series of peaceful protests over housing and political corruption were met with military force by the Muammar Gaddafi regime. The protests escalated into an uprising that spread across the country, with the forces opposing Gaddafi establishing a government based in Benghazi whose stated goal was to overthrow the Gaddafi-led government and hold democratic elections.
The United Nations Security Council passed an initial resolution freezing the assets of Gaddafi and ten members of his inner circle, and restricting their travel. The resolution also referred the actions of the government to the International Criminal Court for investigation, and an arrest warrant for Gaddafi was issued on 27 June. This was followed by an arrest warrant issued by Interpol on 8 September.
In early March, Gaddafi's forces rallied, pushed eastwards and re-took several coastal cities before attacking Benghazi. A further U.N. resolution authorized member states to establish and enforce a no-fly zone over Libya. The Gaddafi government then announced a ceasefire, but failed to uphold it.
After months of conflict, the United States has sent a small force of Marines supported by Army Special Forces to assist the Libyan Rebels in taking Tripoli in order to drive out the Libyan Army, secure a stranglehold on the political climate, and if possible, capture or kill Muammar Gaddafi.
Eleven days before the operation was slated to begin, a small and autonomous group of civilians infiltrated Gaddafi's compound. In the ensuing firefight, Gaddafi was reportedly executed. He didn't stay dead. After being riddled with gun fire, Zombie Gaddafi returned fire, killing all but one of his would-be assassins, who he left alive to "tell the world that 'I [Gaddafi] cannot be killed.'" The Libyan Resistance, thoroughly impressed with Gaddafi's too-bat-shit-fucking-insane-to-die-ness have pledged to allegiance to their new zombie overlord.*
The United States' now-deceased and subsequently un-deceased 40th president Zombie Ronald Reagan remarked on the situation, stating that "The United States will not be deterred in resisting and overthrowing genocidal regimes headed by maniacal dictators, be they human, supernatural or otherwise" And that "the US Military will still support the effort in Libya to remove Gaddafi by any means necessary." He added, "That Muammar jackass is a silly bitch."
The strike will continue on schedule without the aide of local militia.
