I'm not a Vietnam gear expert, but from what little research I have done into it, that rig looks pretty legit. All the basic details like pouch closures, belt fastening system and all of that look good. I don't know enough to tell you about grommets and that little stuff, but outside of that I don't see a problem with it.

Will work for a LATE war USMC kit. The Marines in 'Nam (bar Force Recon guys) wore green dyed 782 gear its called. The basic belt kit is nearly identical to the stuff they wore in WWII, hence why a nickname for it is "Deuce Gear". The belt is just a pistol belt, the suspenders are M1941's, with shoulderpads optional (I'd recommend em). The rifle ammo was carried in the M1961 pouch.

That is not okay for a Marine Corps kit. That's m1956 gear, and was used by the Army. The Marines used far older equipment, and Relarz got it dead on. The marines used green-dyed 782 gear, also known as "duece gear:" Coming from a 'Nam nut, I gotta say that that is a seriously great start though, if you decide to go with an Army impression. It's great gear, and you'll really enjoy it. If you want the USMC gear in the end though, you can buy whole sets here: mooremilitaria.com/packages.htm Also be aware that for a Marine Corps impression, the M69 flak jacket as seen in "Full Metal Jacket" is not correct. It is an army flak jacket, and was not regularly issued to the Marine Corps until 1975, and as a result was used officially only during the fall of Saigon. You'll want an M55 flak vest, like this: I hope this information helps. It's always nice to see another vietnam kit out there!

Wasn't '56 gear used late in the war? As the Marine Corps grew out of the outdated 782 stuff?
