Hi all,
The Taco's and I have been discussing some things, mostly the resurrection of MTAC or a close facsimile thereof. What I want to know is what do you guys think of this? We have all the material for the field and have already gone over all the small details with people who used to be in this business.
We are looking at facilities with over 20k sq ft so we can have plenty of room to build our course.
If you remember MTAC the new field would be setup similar to that, except there might not be 2 floors.
I need solid feedback on this.
What play schedules would work for you all? EX. Two games every Saturday and Sunday 10am-3pm 4pm-9pm maybe a Wednesday every other week for 5pm-10pm
Let me know!

Well, looking at it from a business perspective, you should be aware that there are tons of airsoft fields opening in southeast Michigan lately. You will want to make it as open as possible to people. I know a formula on the east coast that works very well is... you pay $20-30 bucks, and you play all day, from when you entered until closing time. Provide a good amount of area for people to dump their crap and organize their stuff (big wide plywood shelves helps this a lot). Make sure you have the basics readily available to be purchased (masks, BB's, gas) as well. Coming from me personally, have a way to get people receipts the day of the game!
I would almost say that 20k square feet is more than enough, but you don't need a massive field, second story, auto-turrets, etc to make your field one that stands out. What you need is a solid, balanced, field (possibly modular) and you need sets of rules that all players must respect, that are followed, and are enforced with a player policy.
A basic, balanced field can be one of the most popular fields out there if it is run properly, so that everyone has a good time. I frequent several places in Virginia and Maryland that epitomize this. One is a 7k square foot that only has 9 rooms in a 3 x 3 grid with interlinking walls, etc. Their owner is very professional and takes no crap and ensures that everyone has a great time. He has 30+ people every single day of the weekend and its an absolute blast.

I think if the field was closer to the Livonia,Westland, or Redford area you might pick up the people from here that don't want to drive all the way out to PT or even esa. I know if it was near that area I could be there every sunday.

Make sure you have the basics readily available to be purchased (masks, BB's, gas) as well. Coming from me personally, have a way to get people receipts the day of the game! What you need is a solid, balanced, field (possibly modular) and you need sets of rules that all players must respect, that are followed, and are enforced with a player policy. In regards to the first part: The basics would be available and receipts would be given. This is going to be a business, everything will be taken down and recorded. As for the second part: The field will most definitely be modular, changing at least once a month. This will provide our customers with a new feel every time they play and keep people moving instead of finding that one sweet spot. Also we will have an ENFORCED set of rules. MIA standards for FPS and semi only. BM_5: The area we are looking at is very wide. No real location has been set but we have talked about putting it closer to redford. Let me give you a quick rundown of what we plan. 20k sq ft building. Very large staging area. A strict set of guidelines and rules that will be enforced. Membership I.D. cards. (these are still in the works)* We will have a short safety quiz that you need to pass to play. *(this is where we would use the I.D. cards, if you pass the test then you will be issued one. This is just to insure safe play) There will be NO PROSHOP. I apologize for this but we don't have the needed funds to accomplish this at this time. There will be BB's for sale. (Gas and masks aren't on our radar at this time because we don't have a distributor) However propane will be on site for mag fills. Probably something like a $0.10-$0.25 charge per fill. The field will adhere to all MIA standards in regards to FPS and semi only. We will have full insurance and two waivers that must be filled out. (one's the insurance and the other will be ours) Players 12 and up only, and those under 18 need the parents to sign them up. The field will be modular and will change at least once every month. It will be set up just like the inside of a building, there will be rooms connecting to rooms, narrow and open walkways, and probably a more open area near the center. Anything else you guys think of let me know.

Well finding a building like that in this area shouldn't be all that difficult seeing as almost all the warehouses are shut down around here.

Exactly why we want to do this. We can get a building so cheap it's sickening.

That's true. I know you had a facility in Redford before, why not look around there.(I say that partially because it's like a 10 minute walk from my house but still)

Well, I live pretty far away from this entire area and I'm doing most of the building hunting right now. If you have the time BM take a look around and see if you can find me some buildings out near your area for something along the lines of <$1.00 Per square foot.

I would participate if you did this. Pretty close to me and if you made a good course I'd be all over this.
