Thanks to TJ and all of you that made it out today. It was a GREAT turn out and I even managed to get some trigger time in even as a ref.
A lot of new faces and met some good people today. And was a big surprise at the amount of young ladies that came in to show up the boys! There were a few minor incidences and altercations and those have been addressed and hopefully taken care of.
Thanks again everyone who made the trip and made it a great day to be part of the airsoft community!

Had a great time. Only played for half the day but got some good footage the second half. I'll post pictures and the footage sometime later this week. But here is a vid I quickly threw together with no editing as a teaser.
Be sure to watch in HD. I'll be posting the rest of the videos in here but feel free to subscribe if you want to see them a little earlier.

I just want to thank triggs, inf and the rest of the SABR guys and all who came out to play. The weather was great and so were the players. I had a great time seeing many new guys and some old.

Thanks SABR, Triggs, and Youngs for hosting such a great event.
Kind of confused the whole time and I had a comm, but, I think it was error on my part.
I'll start with the bads. There was one one, and that was when ACU turned, shooting from 30 feet away, even if the thing shoots 350 FPS, is completely lame, espically when me and my teammate said we'd take the hit. But, it's the game.
It was a great game overall though.

Not a bad event all in all. Guess I'll start with the pros. The first half of the game got off to a quick start with not a lot of waiting around. Objectives were about as clear as they usually are. That is to say that our squad usually had something to do. I'm not sure how relevant or useful each task was in the grand scheme of things. Folks were calling their hits and respecting engagement limits. Spirits were high and sportsmanship didn't seem to be much of a problem. I thought the prisoner mechanic was an interesting idea, but it might require a bit more development. I might have missed the explanation of the finer points, but I couldn't find anybody that really knew how it worked (how long prisoners had to stay in jail, where the "jail" was or how they got out). The first half ended with a sweeping uphill advance to capture an ammo dump or some portion of terrain that didn't resemble the designation it was given.
After lunch is when the game really started to fall apart. Our first objective was to wax the Tan CO. I'm not sure, but I think the entirety of Green team was on this one task for a while. When nobody could find the bugger, my squad was redirected to locate a briefcase that gave us access to a UAV. The benefits of this were never known, but we were fortunate enough to have someone tagging along with us who saw a ref hide the thing earlier. He took us straight to it. After we called it in, our team got some anonymous intell suggesting that the players wearing ACU were going to turn on the rest of Green Team. The next thirty or so minutes of the game was spent worrying about what to do about this. My suggestion was to blast the hell out of the bunker they were congregated in. When that was shot down, about half of green team set up camp outside of the village waiting for them to come at us. I guess they weren't keen on an uphill assault against a dug in enemy outnumbering them at least 2 to 1. The attack never came. This lead me to wonder about the purpose behind the intell. In milsims, a small group usually turns on the rest of its team but it seems it would be better to just have it happen without notice rather than putting the turncoats all in one place and giving the rest of the team advance notice of the rebellion. I think the ones pulling the strings realized this too late and pulled the plug before the massacre. At the end of it all, about an hour was wasted to deliberation and prep and I think on some level we were all a bit disappointed when nothing happened.
After that fizzle, my squad's radio man was unable to get ahold of our CO, so out of boredom and frustration we decided to go Tan hunting. Rumors continued about potential ACU and Multicam treachery but we largely ignored them. After about another hour of brief firefights were were still unable to get ahold of our CO until out of nowhere he booked right by us, pursued by some unseen, unheard foe. When we asked him what our objective was he responded "run the fuck away". I think it was then he realized that he was no longer being chased because when none of us got up to run he linger long enough to collect himself and clarify that our new objective was to "defend ourselves".
I suppose my biggest criticism is the lack of clarity that dominated the second half. I know the usual excuse for things like this and the botched ACU uprising is that things are seldom clear in real warfare. The logical response to this is to point out that airsoft is not real warfare. The participants all payed to be there and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect some kind of game content to be provided. Even if the teams are not 100% sure of all the details, it seems lazy to not always have some kind of mission.
Something that the admins don't have much control over, that I'd like to see implemented on the player level is the use of the squad dynamic. Instead of the CO making sure everyone on his team knows what to do I'm sure he'd rather deal with 3 or 4 squad leaders who will inform their units in turn. I went to a game at Area 51 Paintball where our CO Munster did that first thing and frankly it made all the difference. The action flowed much quicker and the even felt more organized. Also, I like the concept of being able to take prisoners but the idea needs more development. I felt bad for some of the kids that got snagged within the first 15 minutes of play. From what I gathered they were supposed to sit in a bunker for some undetermined amount of time until someone told them they were free to go. The scoring system needed some fine tuning as well. I found one Green Teamer's comparison to Quidditch to be rather fitting. Points shouldn't count for everything, although, if the game can be won or lost on one objective, I feel it should be something harder than just taking out one guy. But I'm just being knit picky now I think.
At the end of the day I was happy and felt it was worth the $10. Thanks to Young's and SABR for a fun time!

Overall a fun day. At some point I remember my teammates dragging me out by my arms to safety to be revived by the medic. That was epic.

This event was awesome!! Saw some old faces and shot some new ones. But I would say the most epic bad ass game was the last game close to the end. Me and 2 other green guys sneaked up on a group of tan guys at the ammo depot. Hide in a small rectangle bunker in the ground (surprised we all fit ;D) and threw my grenade at them, then shot them up.
