I agree with what sgttom says.
But, here is my half cent:
What if you have a gun that uses a different style of mags that are only available in high cap form? Since I only do local rec games I really don't have a problem with high caps and neither do any of the other players.
I use an Stg44 at times, which uses 300rd high caps. Now I know there is a way to mod an mp7 mid cap to fit inside in place of the high cap internals. But I'm not about to take apart a $25 mag only to find out it won't work.
Now I don't carry full Stg44 pouches(total of 7, 6 in pouches 1 in the gun), I do carry between 3-5 depending on the weather and length of the game.

I think most people are willing to make an exception for guns for which no mid caps or standards exist. Folks with a SCAR H are in the same boat as you, and for that, most event hosts will be lenient with the rules as long as you don't bring 10 high caps and spray like you have 5000 rounds of ammo on you. It's a rare situation, but one that you'll find most people are willing to accommodate.
Also, as a counterpoint to Tom's argument. The difference between winding a high cap and swapping mags is that you can wind a high cap while you're shooting, but if you're switching mid caps/standards, then your gun is incapable of firing during the process (unless you've got a lone bb in the hop unit, which does happen from time to time. Still, you've got one shot). So Player A with his high cap doesn't have to take a break from shooting to wind. He can sit on your bunker and put 500 rounds on it without pause. But player B, with his midcaps, is going to give you a 5 second break every 100 rounds or so, with which you'll have the opportunity to gain the upper hand on him.
