I'm looking at getting a sight for my m4, it's going ontop of my carrying handle because when wearing my mask I can't look down my iron sights. I'm looking at the acog style scopes, I prefer cross hair. But any sights you guys have owned that are worth buying? I only want to spend 120 tops. Acog style sight im interested in. www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?products_id=29737

What type of gameplay are you planning on doing with your m4? CQB, field, etc?

Oops, I suppose that would of helped. Field mostly, magnification is nice, only 3x or 4x though, but not necessary.

Biz, Airsoft optics, unfortunately, tend to be crappy. While it is really easy to get an ACM Eotech, ACOG, Spectre, SUSAT, Aimpoint, etc, many of them are just terrible. Many have issues with batteries, poor eye relief, ghosting or (worst) are simply not adjustable at all. If you must have a replica optic (i.e. an optic that looks like the real thing) then it's hard to beat G&P's aimpoint replicas. I've had one for years and it is crystal clear, has a bright dot and adjusts easily. If you're not concerned with having a replica, there are plenty of sights (magnified or un-magnified) made to hunt varmints that will suit your needs, be cost effective (read: cheap) and be functional. The best optic is going to be the one that works for you. edit: Furthermore, many people (but not Knief or anyone he knows, ) who run optics in airsoft are doing so because they "look cool," not because they add anything to performance. As a result, you've got a lot of airsoft rifles with un-sighted optics sitting on top that simply don't get used because the user is just sighting down the barrel or using their bbs as "tracers."

I don't know who gimpalong is playing with, but most of the guys I know take the time to sight in their optics and actually use them. I find using a red dot to be very helpful in quick target acquisition, especially when transferring from target to target to popping out from behind a bunker when the baddies have a bead on me.
As for what to get, I've been pretty happy with my G&P Aimpoint replica. The battery housing has been finicky for me so I have to tweak it from time to time to get a good dot. Otherwise though, it hasn't been bad. I use a real EoTech on my PTW, but that'll be out of your price range. Some of the replicas I've seen are pretty nice, but I couldn't tell you the brand. I'm sure we've discussed it in the past if you're willing to do some digging through the gear section.

I have a hard time answering this question because the airsoft manufacturers don't generally make their own optics. They're buying tubes, lenses, and diodes from other people and slapping their names on them. Heck, in some cases I'm quite sure they're buying the finished product from someone and slapping their name on it. Since the OEM of any one of those parts can change without notice, you can only hope that the G&P Aimpoint you order will have the same quality as the one Knief got.
As you might guess from my sig, I have no experience with airsoft replica optics, so I can't recommend anything. I can suggest some sort of illuminated reticle as opposed to a plain black crosshair. Picking out the center of a crosshair against a dark background can take valuable time.

Well they don't have to be replicas. But I just want a red dot that doesn't have a ton of dot movement like the matrix red dot I bought. And evike doesn't sell the g&p aimpoint....guess I will do asgi? I wanted it before the 10th but oh well...
