Hey all, I am in town for a bit and might have a skirmishable replica available to me. I'm thinking of making it out to this game, but would appreciate some input since I've been away from the scene for so long.
I realize this is a rec game, but would appreciate some quick opinions from folks who've played there before and what I can expect.
Thanks!

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77.
Looks like the weather will be ok. Does any one have about 2-5k of good BBS I can buy from them at the event. Also I still need a full face mask, if any one has one i can borrow or rent i would appreciate it.

Toothbrush,
We keep the games pretty casual, and pretty simple. We do some team death match type stuff, attack and defend (there's a great castle on an island with a moat) and we have an awesome variant on capture the flag that we run. Mostly we come up with games on the fly, but they pretty much always work out. The players that come out are always awesome, so we rarely get complaints about cheating or people getting into arguments. We try to keep games going for 30-45 minutes with 10 minutes or so of down time in between (in the afternoon that usually stretches to 15 minutes because everybody is fattened up and starting to get tired). It's a good time for sure, but certainly not a serious game.
It'd be great to see you out there after so long.

Also, be sure to bring water and snacks for the heat. Stay hydrated.

Alright everybody, I have some not so great news. The new owner's new insurance policy mandates that all players must have full face protection, regardless of age. This applies to this game (6/11) and all foreseeable games in the future. We've tried to push back on this but they Action PB won't budge and I don't really blame them. If they're in violation of their insurance policy and somebody sues, the owners would be personally liable for any damages awarded and the insurance company would tell them to piss off.
"Full face protection" means some form of protection covering a player's ears, nose and mouth (and as always, full seal goggles). This could take the form of a paintball mask, a paintball mask cut down to those small areas, a shemagh, a bandanna, or a balaclava. You've got to have something in between your ears, nose and mouth and the bbs that could penetrate them.
We're hoping to talk more with the owners about this policy this weekend and see if there's any more leeway, but it might be tough. I do ask that if you're frustrated with this new rule, please don't direct it toward the Action PB owners. They're doing their best to cater to us with the reduced price, longer hours and food on site. When you run an inherently dangerous business, if insurance says jump, you bend over and take it.
We fully understand that this new rule and the short notice in which we're forced to announce it may make it difficult for many of you to play this weekend. If you have to pull out, just let us know here.

Do you need a barrel condom for pistols and machine pistols(I.e. a MAC 11)?

Knief:
I'm assuming a Shemagh, Comtac and full seal works just fine?

Crapshoot,
If you have a holster for your sidearm, you should be fine if you keep holstered in the safe zone. If you can't holster it, you'll need a barrel condom.
Tyr,
Yeah that should be just fine. I'm going to be wearing a shemagh myself.
Fear,
Gotcha on there.

I am actually surprised they never made us do that in the past. Seems the other paintball fields in the area required full face protection, I am cool with it.
Do you know if they are going to continue to let us moderate ourselves, or are their paintball refs going to be tagging along now?

You know, I don't think that's come up. My guess is that they'll let us be on our own. If anything, I'd probably ask them if some of us Hellfish can be volunteer employees and act as more official refs if necessary.

Not trying to sound cynical, but
Do the new owners recognize Airsoft as a legitimate hobby/sport? Also, the heat concerns me because it can get real hot inside a paintball mask. But the paint-ballers deal with it, so I guess its justified.

They do, actually. The new owners are half of the old owners, and the ones that have been present at most of our games for the last couple years. They love having us out because we can police ourselves for the most part. I've run games at paintball fields that don't give a shit about airsoft, and there's a clear difference in the way the management treated us those places compared to No Limits (I'm just going to keep calling them that, it's less confusing for everybody). This new rule isn't because they think we work just like paintball. It's motivated entirely be their need to comply with a new insurance agency. I can guarantee you they would continue you to let us set our own rules if it weren't for that.
I'm worried about the heat, too. I planning to moisten my shemagh with the hope that it keeps me cool around my neck, but we'll have to see.
