With so many quality photographers posting in the gallery these days, I thought it might be fun to have a photo contest. So, I made up an arbitrary set of rules that I figured would work for a start, and if it's successful, we can turn this into a series.
So this contest here is for action shots. They can be either staged or in-game, but they have to look like they could have occurred during game play.
Other than that there are only two rules:
#1) Because we won't be able to tell what is in-game action and which shots are staged, all players must be wearing goggles. Any photographs of players not wearing goggles will be disqualified.
#2) Photoshop may be used, but only to crop or alter levels, curves, saturation, hue, contrast, brightness, etc. You may not add elements to the photograph that were not in the original, or move the players to a different location.
Submissions: Post up all submissions in this thread by . You may submit an unlimited number of photos, but only one photo per member will be entered in the Top Ten to be judged. If you submit multiple images want a specific image to be your candidate for the Top Ten, make that clear. If you want all of them to be eligible, then just post them.
Judging: I'll sort through all of the submissions and pull out what I feel are the Top Ten photos. Those ten will then be posted in a separate poll thread and all of the members of MiA can vote for their favorite. The winner is the winner. Yes, you can vote for your own picture.
If you don't want to submit a picture, but do want to help me sort out the Top Ten, send me a PM and we make something of a committee.
Your pictures don't have to be dramatic to make the Top Ten. Humor and playfulness work just as well, as long as you keep it tasteful and Proboards appropriate. You don't have to have the best guns and gear to win. Similarly, you don't have to have the best camera and lighting equipment. Creativity and style will give you a leg up over somebody who has the cash to drop on an expensive camera but doesn't know where to point it.
Prize: I don't have anything tangible to give away, sorry. But you can get a custom title of your choice, a bump in Karma, and bragging rights. This is just for fun and to show off your skills.
Now let's see those money shots!
