Yeah, JAC also use to make a really nice gas Thompson. It wasn't blowback, but it had a really nice BV (bullet-valve) system.
Quick update. Performance isn't that great. I would say this is only accurate up to 70 feet with .2's. I haven't tested with anything higher, but I believe the performance would be much, much better with a higher weight BB. The .2's hook hard and don't stay in a straight trajectory too well. I really need someone to fashion me a tightbore!

My guess would be try some .43s.

My guess would be try some .43s. That's a huge step up. Unless its firing 500fps, .43's is not the solution. I would try .28's, .30's, .36's (Madbull makes these and are pretty easy to get), and .43's (Madbull also makes these, among other companies that have accuracy you wouldn't require) as a last effort. You'll probably find .30's or .36's work best. From what I remember, gas revolvers shoot pretty hot.

Neat little gun. How practical is it for actually using in a game? I assume 6 shots? Does it use shells or an internal reservoir?

It actually holds around 14 rounds. It uses an internal reservoir (Pegasus system) which is actually really nice. I can get around 120 shots on one fill of propane. The only thing making this unpractical is the accuracy. I really need to get some heavier weight BB's.

My Tanaka SAA runs the pegasus system, and I know exactly your gripes with .2's hooking HARD upwards as a result of the hop. I borrowed a handful of my buddy's madbull .3's and it fires like a laser now. Perfectly straight . Give .3's a try and you'll probably be good.
