Hello, I was just wondering what some of you had to say about mauser sniper rifle? I just bough one cause now I'm getting back into airsoft and figured since it was at a price i could afford i bought it and took it out in my back yard a fired a few shots. I think its pretty good for a returning airsoft player. But i was just wondering what you all had to say. Any advice would help as far as upgrades or what not. Thanks
I have the mauser SR Pro Tactical rifle

I am pretty positive that the Mauser Sr Pro tactical is a rebranded Well MB05. However, I cannot 100% confirm this.
Either way, the basic concept for upgrading a bolt action rifle is the same. There are several different ways to choose your upgrades, and since many cost quite the pretty penny (as much as the rifle itself or more), than upgrading the entire rifle will take some time.
What exactly did you have in mind for upgrades? That, and how much cash are you willing to spend? Answering these questions will help me help you.

The "Mauser" sniper rifles are Cybergun licensed WELL rifles. The first one that comes to mind is the G22 which is a modified WELL L96, which more or less is a Maruzen Type96 clone.
Onto upgrades. As stated it's a clone of the Maruzen Type96, which more or less makes it completely upgradable. HOWEVER, don't believe for a second it needs "a little more power." They shoot a respectable ~450~ FPS, which is more than plenty for any rifle. What they do need however, is a complete internal overhaul to be considered anything but a backyard plinker.
For the most part most spring based sniper rifles have a stock range of about 150-160ft. The WELL sniper rifles are notorious for having a max range of around 100ft. And no before it's considered your FPS doesn't play a part in the range issue. What the WELL rifles do needs is....well pretty much everything.
Quality tightbore, quality bucking, new trigger sears, quality metal spring guide, improved cylinders. And yes that sounds like a lot, and it is, it's basically the entire functioning rifle. They don't need power, they need durability, something WELL does not offer.

I pretty much want to give it a little more power. Im looking into different scopes. But im willing to drop into this gun no more 150. The reason being im looking into getting another sniper rifle the L96 With triggs confirming that this rifle is indeed a WELL, that means that, like he said, the maruzen l96 parts will work. Therefore, why get another l96 rifle in the first place? Buying a whole new rifle, that takes the exact same internals (which need to be replaced anyways) is just a waste of $100 or so. Instead of buying a whole new rifle, just stick with what you got, and spend the money on some upgrades. Since you said you had $150 for internal parts + money for a new rifle, that equals around $250 that you have, that can be spent on parts. Triggs is on the money here, everything needs to be replaced. I have seen one of these rifles shoot first hand, and quite frankly, its a piece of poo in stock form. There is no reason to be trying to get more power. You hear this all the time...People want POWER POWER POWER!! In reality, you can have a rifle shooting harder than anyone elses on the field, but if it cannot hit the gosh darn side of a barn, than the rifle's POWER does not mean spit. Therefore, look into some hop up upgrades first. I recommend dishing out the cash for a PDI hop up chamber, aeg barrel, and an aeg bucking. Then get some quality ammo and do a few DIY mods, including custom barrel spacers, teflon tape, etc, and you should have yourself a relatively decent rifle. At the same time though, you are going to have to keep your eye on the trigger box. The clone rifles are notorious for having the sears and/or shell of the trigger box breaking, sometimes very quickly. There are l96 zero triggers selling in the states now for $130. This is a huge price reduction, compared to what it was a few months back, coming in at a heavy $200. I would take advantage of this price reduction. Still a lot of money, but totally worth it in my opionion. After that, you have the cylinder unit to worry about. I am still using my stock cylinder, but every bity piece inside has been replaced. I went all laylax and could not be happier.

thanks guys. Some of it i dont know if i could do. But its my first sniper rifle so im kinda wanting to make it cheap until i could afford a newer better rifle. Im mostly run and gun but with the age kicking in i mostly want to do recon and sit back. So back to what i was saying i want to keep it simple and all. I dont want the best rifle but something with a few mods to it. So what would be easy to do?

Check the trigger box on the mauser. The newer production runs may have metal tigger boxes, which would solve the breaking issue the plastic trigger boxes have. www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Metal_Trigger_Box_Assembly_for_Type_96_Sniper_Rifles/3391Fuzzywolly is right, you should upgrade to a PDI hop-up unit, AEG cut barrel, and AEG hop-up bucking. Those upgrades will significantly increase range and accuracy. If you buy a Madbull barrel you will stay around your $150 dollar budget. Madbull barrels a good cheap tbb, they get the job done without breaking the bank. As for websites you may want to check out airsoft atlanta ( www.airsoftatlanta.com/ ) They have a large selection of upgrade parts. They sell the PDI chamber for around $66. Airsof Atlanta dosen't sell the Madbull barrels, but you can find them being sold on most retail websites like: www.airsoftgi.com/ , www.trinityairsoft.com/ , www.airsoftpost.com/ .

Im sorry this might be a pain in all but honestly you guys are just throwing random upgrades that i have just no clue what your talking about. Im simply asking what should i replace that will break or cause damge and whats some simple upgrades. Once again sorry but like stated returning airosft player which means i play but not a professional upgrading gun airsoft player. So I have nothing else to say if we could keep this to a normal person understanding that would be greaty appricated. Thanks

Those are the basic upgrades they are giving you as almost any given one of those things could fail in a clone sniper rifle. Most of the sniper rifles that people have on here that are fully upgraded can cost up wards of $1,000 including the cost of the rifle itself. If you want more consistence and a longer range, then go for a new hop-up chamber, bucking and tight bore barrel as stated above. But then you leave your other internals at risk of failing because those clone sniper rifles weren't meant to last forever at the FPS. So if you want your gun to last a long time you'll need to replace the trigger box, and most of the cylinder internals and probably the cylinder as well. That is where all the money comes from. Getting a sniper rifle to shoot really hard is easy. All that requires is a new spring. Getting it to shoot far and accurately is something thats going to cost you a little more.
Also, just a heads up, but make sure to use proper punctuation and capitalize your I's.

Triggs was talking to Vampyre, not you, num1. They've gone back and forth on a few similar topics lately. For what it's worth, I tend to think Triggs knows his stuff better, but on this particular subject, I don't know jack.
Howver, I do have to ask you to clean up your grammer when you post. We ask that all members abide by the rules of the English language when posting here. That means proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, as well as writing in complete sentences. Please put a little more effort into this in your posts in the future.

Appologies num1, it was directed at Vampyre (aaron2269/Vampyre2269). He means well, but his "upgrades" are no better than stock parts.
We're (Fuzzywolly as well as myself) are simply trying to save you money. The UTG L96 has been argued to death as it is one of the most common sniper rifles used in airsoft. While there are a number of manufactures of rifles as well as spare parts and upgrades not all of them are of good quality. Vampyre, Fuzzy, and I have had some bouts in the past (less than 6 months no less) and despite an overwhelming amount of information, experience, and expertise we have gone over the same issues with Vampyre recommending dud parts.
Also, simple searches on google will point you towards a lot of parts for the Maruzen Type96, PDI Type96 upgrades, Laylax Type96 upgrades, as well as the highly recommended Madbull tightbore barrels.

Num1, I highly suggest not going with the spring upgrade. You seem set on higher fps, but as both triggs and I continue to repeat to you, this is not necessary. A spring upgrade is a upgrade that will end up burning a whole so big in your wallet, you will turn away from bolt actions for good. We are trying to save you money here. Putting in a spring upgrade to early in the upgrading process will hurt you more than it will help. The barrel upgrade has to do with the Hop up upgrade category. This involves what has been said before. The PDI Hop up, bucking (AEG), and barrel (AEG). You need all three to get the job done. Without one, the rest are useless. Like it has been said, Airsoft Atlanta has a HUGE variety of ugprade parts. I do all my bolt action shopping from there. Great quality service, great selection, and decent prices. However, I recommend checking out the l96 trigger units here: airsoftsniper.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=2432This will save you a good bit of cash. The l96 trigger for the maruzen is the trigger box that you want. This will fit in your clone rifle. Simple upgrades would be the PDI hop up, barrel, and bucking (along with quality ammo). Although installing the PDI hop up chamber for the first time, is anything but simple. Other mods you can do (DIY Mods) are the following... 1. Barrel spacers: Use electric tape and wrap it around the inner barrel. Do this until it fits snug inside the outer barrel. 2. Teflon tape the cylinder head: Better compression (not much) but enough to help create better seal, resulting in a tad more fps/consistency. This will not put any extra wear on the trigger box/other internal parts. Those two mods can be simple and effective, and barely cost anything at all. Something else to look into would be to clean your entire rifle, and use some White Lithium Lube to clean your parts. A little of this on the cylinder is good, and helps keep bolt pull easy and smooth. One tube of Lithium will last you a life time. The problem with things breaking in a clone, are that there are so many areas for this to happen. For instance, the stock trigger box is weak, but inside the cylinder unit, the piston is very fragile. These parts break sooo easy. You might get lucky and they will last a few months, but after that, the rifle is bound to break somewhere. Overall, hop up upgrades will do you good to start out with. Check out this guide for upgrading. You do not need to follow it exactly, as everyone's situation with money/problems with their rifle are different. Guide: airsoftsniper.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=haveauniquerifle&action=display&thread=1624Copied and pasted key info for you, but recommend reading that whole thing: First Upgrade Purchases 1. PDI hop up chamber: allows use of aeg barrels and buckings 2. AEG tightbore barrel (6.03mm to 6.05mm recommended.) Stock barrel length is 499mm, but a 509mm barrel will suffice if the end cap is removed. A flash hider will provide cover for the small bit of barrel that is extended. 3. Soft bucking and nubbing (possibly polar stars concave spacer--is a nubbing) 4. Heavy weight bbs (madbulls are nice) 5. PDI repair kit: Cheap kit, with spare pieces for PDI hop up unit. Second Upgrade Purchases 1. Cylinder head, spring guide, cylinder, and piston and accuracy cup. I prefer laylax parts but PDI parts are also very high quality. -Note: the cylinder being the most expensive is not necessary with the purchase of the spring guide, piston, and cylinder head. The stock cylinder will suffice just fine for now. 2. Trigger sear and piston sear. Although, the stock sears held up extremely fine, and show no signs of wear after three years of use. Third Upgrade Purchases 1. Zero trigger 2. If not bought yet, a teflon cylinder 3. Heavier spring (note how other internal parts were upgraded before the spring was. This is very important Fourth upgrade purchases 1. Flash hider adapter 2. Flash hider 3. New bolt handle Note how these are not necessary upgrade parts. Some offer good durability upgrades, whiles others are for looks Here is a guide for taking apart a UTG l96. You do not have this rifle, but the internal parts are the SAME. Read through the guide for a basic concept of the internal parts. airsoftsniper.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=reviews&action=display&thread=1766Good times, good times.
