I've used 5 of G&G's 79rd mid-caps all last year, lost one of them. I've been trying to find an extra set, but supposedly are extremely rare now, even on eBay. Every store I've tried is out of stock, and the ones on eBay are pretty expensive. (One eBay seller does offer to upgrade to the G&P equivalents at no extra charge, but 130 rounds is a bit unrealistic to me.)
Even if I managed to get more, I'm banking on the possibility that I could lose a lot more mags on the field this year. So, I'm wondering, should I instead start stocking up on another brand of magazine that's more readily available?
If so, any recommendations? I went with the G&G brand because I knew they were designed to be fully compatible with my gun (i.e. snug fit, no rattling in the mag well or any other miscellaneous issues like that). So I'd want a brand that will be every bit as compatible.

Mag brand mags are great, and feed just fine in G&Gs. It's what I've been using since I got my second G&G a couple years ago. You definitely don't need to get G&G mags for a G&G gun.

Mag brand will wobble a little but for the price you can't complain.

Mag brand will wobble a little but for the price you can't complain. I used to put a little bit of tape on the mag to make it fit tighter, and it prevented the mags from wiggling. You could give that a try if that problem comes up.

I've been running Green-Label PMags with no issues. However, I have a Madbull body on mine.
My buddy has a regular combat machine and we taped the tops of the mags a bit. He didn't have any feeding issues either. The key is to break in the mags beforehand. I ran lightly-oiled rounds through three times, and then dry ones twice. Only had a stuck follower on one of the mags (out of 12). Tapped it on the ground and it was fine from thereafter.

Actually, most G&G's don't feed well off of these. I used to have like 8, and sold them to buy G&G brand ones. The problem is the little wedge that holds the bb's in. The hop-up in a G&G is a little more recessed into the magwell, so the hop-up can't push the wedge back far enough to get a nice flow of bb's without applying upward pressure to the magazine. An easy fix is to take out the little wedge, and dremel/file it slightly to be shorter, and that will compensate for the hop-up not correctly pushing it back as far as it should go. If you're having trouble understanding the modification, load a mag. Look at the bb's. The little black thing hold them in needs to be shaved on King Arms mags, if used in a G&G (typically). In other words, you want to be able to see less of that piece, more of the bb. It took me about 5 minutes per mag to correct. The construction on the G&G mags are far superior overall, however.

How well do the G&P 130-round mags work with a GR-16? As I mentioned, there's currently an eBay seller selling the G&G mags who will upgrade them to the G&P's for free if they're out of stock. They're full metal like the G&G's too, so that's a plus for me since I might be dropping the empties on the field unless I get a dump pouch or something.

I have no personal experience with G&P magazines, but I imagine they'd work okay. King Arms are the only ones that ever gave me any trouble.
