This place has been empty for years. I have been wishing that someone could come to this place and use it for CQB airsoft, paintball, or lazertag or something like that. I just want to put it out there that there is the perfect place in Troy or Clawson Michigan, at Livernois and Maple. It used to be a Big Lots, and then also, there is a closed down K-Mart pretty much right next it. I just would really like someone, or some group to open up a facility there. Thanks and please consider it.

Doing something like that is easier said than done.
First, you have to find someone willing to risk tens of thousand of dollars investing in the facility.
Second, you have to go through a lot of red tape and get the city to approve of having a facility like that.
I'm not saying that it can't happen but in all likelyhood it will not happen.

I knew that for the most part, sadly. I was just hoping someone would be able to make something out of it.

Even if somebody DID make something out of it, M.S. is right. You'd need a big investor ready to lose a chunk of cash if business doesn't happen. That was the problem with MTAC. Everybody wanted a CQB arena in Redford, one was made, then nobody showed. We don't play a regular run-o-the-mill sport, and there's not a HUGE number of players, like baseball or football. Besides, many people who sling plastic are grown-ass men. Grown-ass men have jobs that don't always allow time to go play airsoft. I want it to happen, but like most good things, it won't.

High intial cost + low profit + high maintenance, insurance fees, renovation, taxes, for low frequency use at most once a day off bank hours. It's not a good equation.
If a lot is sitting vacant that also means it's probably stripped on the inside and so renovation costs are pretty high to make it useful. That's why it's easier to own and use woodland property.

Well someone must own it. Talk to the city and try to see if they would approve of a city owned airsoft field. We have the advantage that we are banned in just about every public area. Just like skateboarding, When it started to be banned from seemingly every corner a lot of city's built skate parks to keep skaters off the street. This is a vary similar situation. If we get enough people together in that area or willing to make a trip to troy this can be done.

That does seem like a good idea. I will try to collect some people who are interested in the field and try to influence something. That is a very good comparison though.

Sounds fun, if it does happen, I would drive out about every other week.

Same here. I hate driving 1 1/5 or more to play for 4 hours. I guess it could be worse. Hit me up if it ever happens.

Hate to be a downer but $100,000 says the city of Troy (or any other local city) will not open a public airsoft facility especially with all the budget issues going on in these days.

Sadly, that is probably true. But I am pretty sure, if we could get enough people to vouch for SOME type of field to be opened, we might be able to negotiate something with the city.

It never hurts to try, the only thing you have to lose is time.
EDIT: I don't live close by, but I'd gladly sign a petition, just to get more people to recognize airsoft.
