Most websites list the [glow=red,2,300]Echo1 ak47 CPW[/glow] as having below 400 fps. However user reviews have revealed that the gun might shoot anywhere from 415-450 fps with stock internals. I purchased one of these guns used. The seller chronoed my gun at [glow=red,2,300]428 fps.[/glow] Realizing that this is too hot for most if not all games, I looked around and purchased a [glow=red,2,300]Modify sp120[/glow] spring to replace the stock spring in my gun. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=31_51&products_id=2464I have not put it into my gun yet because I am firstly afraid to damage the gear box, and secondly because I am not sure if the stock spring in my gun will eventually lose compression power (however you say that). I would like to get to the No Limits game this weekend and want your advice as to whether or not I should go ahead and put in my sp120 spring anyways or to arrive at the game and get it chronoed there. If I did the latter of the two options and my gun was shooting too hard for the event, is it possible for me to swap out the springs at the event and get it checked again? If yes, is there anyone who is going to be there that could help me? (I have seen the tutorials, but am still worried that as I take it apart, stuff will not go back in.) If this should be in the technical thread then I am sorry.

The Modify SP120 might actually be too hot too... I don't know much about Modify springs, but the only other springs that use the "SP" thing that I know of are Guarder springs, and a Guarder SP120 usually puts people around 400-440 FPS. Now, the Modify could be different, but if it's supposed to be a clone of the Guarder SP120 it might still to be too hot to use at No Limits.
Either way, yes you can swap out the spring there and chrono it afterwards. I will be there, and I can help with the gearbox for sure. I'm not a big fan of taking AKs apart, but there will be plenty of other people there to help too.
So I'd just bring your gun as it is and chrono it at the game. If it's too hot, swap out the springs and re-chrono.
Just FYI, your stock spring will most likely loosen up a bit over time (called "settling" or "settling in"), however it's impossible to say how much it will really settle. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Also dude, if you're shooting over 410 FPS is just means you can't shoot full auto. It's not terrible to be shooting semi-only and I know a decent amount of airsofters (myself included usually) that will shoot semi-auto regardless of FPS. It's really not a huge disadvantage...

Unfortunately I would like my gun to be able to go pewpewpewpew as well as pew...pew pew.

Plus, you'd have to permanently disable full auto for it to be field legal.

^this is very important.
If it still shooting too hot at the game, I may have a extra spring or two for you.

Well having only shot my gun on the first and second day of receiving it I had thought it was in full working order. The wiring or motor in the gun seems to have stopped working. I've checked the fuse, checked the wiring for all but the trigger part which I would have to open the gearbox for I think, and I've checked my batteries but when I pull the trigger, there is no motor sound, and no for me...

Today I attacked the wires with a volt meter. The problem was the trigger wasn't completing the circuit anymore. I cracked open the gear box like half an inch and messed with it kinda and now it works. I guess this is a problem with echo1's because this was in the technical section.
So with that fixed and my gun working I can now focus on my original problem. Which should be fixed this Saturday at the game thanks to the help I've been told I can get from this community.
Time to exhale. ;D

I won't be playing much, so provided you have a spare spring on Saturday, I'd be happy to swap them for ya.

So we're looking for an average height, male, sort of brown hair, wearing camo and green? Should be easy, you'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Not a problem, it's too bad the new spring made it even hotter.
