Opinion, (in my opinion) Scouts are smaller, lighter, lower profile and LED (which a lot of people view as a Advantage, but I dont). LEDs do last a lot longer, the bulbs arent supposed to burn out, and have more resistance to shock. But Im far from ready to give up my hi-output incandescent.
Surefires regular weaponlights like the Millenium Series are a little bulkier but I much prefer incandescent light over LED light. I think regular Surefires light goes out farther and is brighter inside of a room. Im thoroughly umimpressed with even High quality LED weaponlight brightness. I messed around with my CO's Scout Light, and Ill take my M900 over it anyday of the week.
But you said you were looking for something lower profile and light. You decide.

LEDs are either visible or IR, not both therefore if you want to use nods and incandesent with the IR filter is the way to go unless you buy a duel output led setup. The IR filters don't work on LEDs.

I just went to look at the Scouts on their web site, and I was surprised to see that they're currently rating them at 100 lumens for the single cell light and 200 for the two cell. The original Scout was 65 lumens. Either Surefire has stopped being honest (which I personally doubt) or they've been improving their LED modules.

They've been improving the LED modules, they use an updated one that goes by KLX4 or something like that. The scout kits also come with incandescent heads if you get one of those through ebay.

The single cell scout is very nice. For most of us non door kickers our lights will see little use. The weight and size savings are great.

Played with it yesterday and its amazing. After all that has been said about the light I came to the conclusion that the Surefire M600 offered the best balance of weight and power. The light is on its way!

I like how clean it looks without the light. Just my opinion I would do away with the Noveske, but I like how tight and simple it looks regardless. Nice gun!
