Personally, I would go with the TM. TM's known for reliability, so That should be a win-win. Plus, in my opinion, I like the looks of the TM more.

The Maruzen has been out longer, is excellent quality, it has a well-known list of upgrades, and multiple companies making them.
The TM is NEW, hasn't been nearly as tested as the Maruzen in the field, and has limited upgrades, and has been disputed by many retailers about which parts actually work in them. However, it is a TM, and is bound to be great quality based upon their other weapons.
Either way, either *should* make a formidable, field worthy bolt action.

Reliability doesn't mean squat. Everything ends up getting replaced anyway. Get the Maruzen.

Stapo has it right. TM's reliability lies in their stock form.

I would really like to see the action of the TM 96, it looks excessively complicated. From the way the magazine loads, the hopup adjusts, it doesn't seem like Tokyo Marui should have made another rifle.
I don't think it will be as simple, robust, or reliable as the Maruzen.
