So I have a very basic set of gear, (Tactical vest, Woodland BDU's, hat, boots.) and I have yet to find my own personal look/ liking when it comes to gear, adding my own little touches, etc. I was doing some thinking about it, and the idea of a post-apocalyptic look really appeals to me. I have some ideas and I've done a lot of internet searching, but suggestions are always great. So I'd love to hear your thoughts, and suggestions on it. Pictures are definitely welcome!
I was thinking something along these lines. A messenger bag or satchel with a lot of pouches for my mags. A great coat/ trench coat / duster. Maybe a pouched belt. fingerless gloves. neck scarf (O.D. green or a brownish color)

I would think some basic tac gear might be nice. Not sure what kind of "post apocalyptic" look you're going for (kinda depends on what movie you watch I have nothing else to say), but maybe like a web belt with a few pouches on it. Rugged jeans and a t-shirt or maybe a dirty/rugged button up shirt. I like the idea of a satchel bag for mags, or maybe keeping a sidearm in there too. Just sling that over your shoulder.
Basically you'll want some kind of basic civilian clothing that's rugged and looks like you've been wearing the same clothes for 2+ weeks. Then some basic tac gear, like you've found an army navy or some kind of military store and got a few little things to hold ammo/guns.
Or you could go for a post apocalyptic government military loadout. Like, the guys who were in the military or in the government and have really sweet but scary looking stuff. Black everything, futuristic looking gas mask, fully-geared in black basically. Scary looking.

When you think post apocalyptic, think about what you would like to have during the apocalyptic event, then take that stuff and make it dirty as hell. If you don't always want it perennially dirty, just the right dusting of tan and brown spray paint can give you the same effect. Bare in mind though, if you start painting clothing/gear, you usually don't get a second chance. You can't just start over like with a gun.

Thanks for the thought guys, and they're good ideas.
Kiki. I was going for a "all governments collapsed-wasteland" sort of post apocalyptic theme. I was thinking something like civilian with a little military background.
Thor, thanks for the suggestion, but I know that bit already, I was just seeing if any one had an interesting gear ideas I hadn't thought of.

I've heard someone actually did a full John Connor, Terminator Salvation loadout somewhere in the airsoft community, anyone heard of this?

If you can manage it, any kind of raider loadout from Fallout 3 would be awesome. But it's not too practical, since there wouldn't be any place to store mags really.

I'm just letting you guys know, I'll be going P.A. at the Hellfish rec. game this Saturday. I don't have everything I want, but it's worth a shot getting used to it and what not.

Please do not do a duster or trench coat or any sort of long giant coat. They look ridiculous like something out of a really bad B movie or the Matrix... which is essentially the same thing.

Keep in mind what type of PAW situation your in. Nuclear Winter is a lot different then something from the newest Resident Evil. You might be in a tundra environment as well as a desert. Michigan weather changes as well so you either need something small enough to fit under winder clothes or large enough to fit over them. Also, it depends on if your "bugging In" or "bugging out" Bugging in is fortifying your house, bugging out is staying mobile and constantly watching your tail. You can have heavier stuff if you bug in cause you won't be wearing it 24/7. Duster/trench coat just catch on things. Wear something like a leather jacket instead of a duster. I'm probably going to wear BDUs though for the pockets and the fit. So it is harder to grab me or easier to get myself out of a wrecked car. Overall though, don't wear anything you don't wear normally. You would be getting used to a post apocalyptic world (PAW) you don't need to get used to a new outfit too.

Well you both will be displeased to hear I have to try a trench coat, at least for one game, even if you are right, which you most likely are. I have heard both arguments about the trench coat, and it has it's pros and cons, it depends on the person for weather or not it works. And for the record, I do regularly wear a trench coat

Russian infantry in WWII were issued long coats. If it's cold enough, I guess you learn to live with the snagging.

Honestly if you wear a trench coat you just look like a hot topic reject. It sounds harsh, but trench coats in general look really really bad.

To me, the trench coat looks funny. I guess My PAW scenario is different then yours. I totally see one in the way for survival. In airsoft and organized military ops of ww2 i see them ok. In a PAW though I see a lot more problems with them. I do feel I could work around them, it just isn't what I'm going to wear. I have a "bug out" setup waiting in my closet right now. Troub, the trench coat is an opinion. If I wanted to wear edible thong underwear in the apocalypse because it helps me run faster or something, it doesn't mean its useless or a bad idea. Just means it looks like I'm some kind of messed up individual that gets his hair blown back by fruit roll ups. Looking cool doesn't always mean best, thats what I'm saying.
