I have a quick question. Would it be possible to equipped a Tracer-Suppressor to a UTG L96 Sniper Rifle?
Or would it only work on a SR-25 style: (where as the rifle's barrel tip has threads on it)
Can you modify or are there parts you can add/change to make this work on a L96 type rifle.
Need to know soon, thanks.

Tracer units don't work on a Sniper rifle if your trying to use them for the glowing effect. The BB's travel too fast to A) Be seen and B) Even be lit up by the tracer unit.
I tried both letting them pass through the LED on the unit, and hitting them with a 100 lumen Surefire right before I loaded the round into the chamber, and neither worked.
If your going to use it for the suppressing effect, that would work. But I have no clue if it would work with a L96.

Is there anyway I could modify a magazine to light the bb's up before entering the chamber?
For the first time there is a game being held in Utah to is allowing the use of sniper weapons (as long as they have a tracer unit) in their night game. I have never heard of a game like this before. But, I am willing to try it out. Though, I need to find a way to get my ammo to light up.
The kick is, I believe the bb's will leave barrel so fast (like you said), that even if they are lit, I do not think you would even be able to see them?
I don't know. Just looking for some advice. I have nothing else to say.
We will see how this works.
Thanks,

Whether or not you could see the bb's, you would have to buy the proper suppressor adapter. It just replaces the end cap and has a 14mm threaded tip. Of course though, you have to be careful to get the same tip as the threads of your suppressor.

There is no point really seeing as you can't to my knowledge get heavy enough bb's that glow in the dark that would be worth while to use in a sniper rifle.

Well, he is using a UTG. .25's would probably work if it's stock.

Even if you find a way to illuminate the BB's in the magazine (Homemade LED kit works) they still go too fast for you to see them. I've even tried trying to find them through my Gen.3 PVS-14 and even while looking through there they are still barely visible. Granted, I tried mine at 550 fps in my bolt action, but even shooting from a PTW shooting 500 fps they were still traveling too fast to see. Unless you downgrade your rifle to shoot around the 400 fps mark, tracers are not in your future my friend.

cqbr, I'll have to disagree. We used a TM v1 tracer unit on my APS2 and were easily able to see the bb's even at the 600fps it was cranking out (yes, I know it was too hot, but regardless, that's what it was shooting). The problem becomes the hop due to the glow in the dark bb's only being available in lower weights.
However, if you're willing to lose some range and tune your rifle for .25g bb's than you'd be good to go. Then again, I would never allow a high fps gun on the field for a night game, much too great a chance of accidentally shooting someone at close ranges, simply a safety hazard.
With that said, I personally wouldn't waste your $ on it, even though it is a nifty little thing to goof around with at night.

If you cranked down to a velocity that will let your hopup shoot a .25 accurately it would be more of a waste using a tracer, your enemy would easily see the glowing round and move if you were at a concealed position. .25's don't carry the punch like Sniper weight BB's do.
Face it, even a good scope can't see safe 550fps engagements in the deep woods at night, making a night vision scope the best option for being responsible with a hot weapon. It would illuminate the BB even more, which at that point I'd sure hope its not a UTG. That would be one hell of a weapon, a whole new breed of PTW. All we need are Sniper weight tracers.

Well, I appreciate the comments. I thought I say someone saying I would need to get an adapter for the Tracer? Can I really put a tracer on the end of my UTG L96? The cap at the end of my barrel doesn't look like it could come off.
In the end I probably will not waste the money for it. However, if I should try it. What do I need to add the tracer (I have been wanting to add a suppressor just for looks), but wasn't sure if the gun would be able to be equipped it with one.
Thanks,
Edit: My L96 shoots .36 weight's at 350 fps. If I use the .25's I hope I don't cross the fps limit using a lighter weight BB. Again, in the end if my sniper can not have any barrel suppressors then I'll just use my M15A4. Not a big deal. I have nothing else to say.

MIA limits is 550 with .20's. You're already WAY over the line.

Yes, and you will need the adapter.

That is 738 fps with .2's... There is no way your UTG is shooting that hot... I got my CA M24 up around 700 and the trigger assembly almost failed.

Sorry, I double tapped the "5" key, I have changed the fps rating. I have nothing else to say. I was a little shocked too, when I saw 550pfs with .36 weights. Okay, where would I be able to find an adaptor (or the best place to get one). After getting some replies, I will close this thread. I really appreciate all the help guys.
Thanks,
