Hey everyone,
I saw that trailer Tex and a few others threw together about the upcoming zombie event and it really got me thinking. To me, this could be an amazing bit of fun. Haven't you ever wondered what it would feel like? Staring down the barrel of shotgun with a hungry, screaming horde of flesh eating zed heads running you into a corner.
Anyway...I have been racking my brain with how this event would work and have come with ideas and would love to hear what everyone else suggests, thinks, wants.
These types of events...if spread out, could be a blast if all goes according to plan.
SO gentlemen, converse!

I think SFOD would be a great place for a zombie game, HITW has all teh woods and ridges. SFOD just has a beastly city going and I think it would be cool having a last stand, or trying to have zombies running up the hill at the D-Day part of the field.

I agree sunshine, in the sense that they're the only field nearby I can get to.

I think SFOD would be a great place for it...but if done right anywhere could be fun.
I'm thinking the problems would be pretty endless though. How do the zombies infect the others? How do you take down a zombie? How do you respawn/become infected?
I can also for see some issues with physical contact becoming a bit violent. I mean here you have a group of "zombies" running at you and you have run out of ammo...adrenaline is rushing and bam.
Also...getting the required numbers of role players to be zombies would be quite a challenge in and of its self. You need quite a large number of infected to make a considerable challenge for the survivors. They would almost certainly have to be dressed in zombie garb, including makeup and such (although with masks...).
It would be an awesomelly fun event. I, for one, have always wanted to see how I'd do in a scenario like this. If the right amount of realism (a stretch for zombies I know) was paid attention to it could really be a great time.
IDEA TIME:
It would be fun to have two objectives during this even...one for the "survivors" and another for the "military." The survivors would simply try to survive or get to a series of check points while the military tries to rescue the survivors and try to survive themselves.
Perhaps the zombies have to pull flags of of the humans bodies to kill them. Each player is given two flags. When one is taken they have "bitten" when two have been removed they have been "killed."
It would also be cool if when bitten the player had a certain amount of time before they "changed". Especially if you had to pay attention to when a team mate was going to turn...that would add a really creepy dynamic. I mean a zombie scenario has got to scare you.
Anymore ideas fellas??

SOUNDS like you have the right idea, think tank. BUT, what about the zombies? Those poor little lifeless mangles of rotten flesh? What kind of re spawn system would they have? You can't shoot a zombie role player and have him lay there for the rest of the game. There has to be some sort of Zombie-survivor ratio that makes game play fun, but not overwhelming-possibly different hordes of zombies at different locations? Maybe even zombie players could take shifts during the game.
As for the survivors and military, who would be able to role play as this particular group(s)? If only the huge Milsimer's (if that's what you call it) and team moderators get to be chosen, then that's when the whole "that's unfair..." part of the equation sets in. Maybe different players can be converted to zombies during game play, or the players can take turns playing different roles. Zombie games are incredibly difficult to set up on a large scale, and need VERY strict rules and specific regulations.

Well, I don't care if you think its unfair, I call all-time Zombie. I'd be down for some Rambo: First Blood Part 2 stuff...

I know that...in fact I think everyone here does...I don't see the confusion...
I was just trying to get some ideas and throw out suggestions for future events like this.
